Montague County Pioneer Dies Funeral services for GAINES CARSON, 79, who died at his home here last Thursday were held at HOWARD-CONE Funeral Chapel Friday, Feb. 23. Rev. L. E. RAMBO of the First Baptist Church officiated. Pallbearers were SEAMON HEDGPETH, GRADY FOOSHEE, JIM CLINGINGSMITH, GEORGE SHACKELFORD, RICHARD CURNUTTE, and JOHNNIE CARMINATI. Interment was at the Montague cemetery. GAINES CARSON was born July 9, 1860 in Mississippi. He married MISS MALISSA HEARNE in 1882. He moved to Montague County form Henderson County 40 years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his son COYE CARSON of Nocona and a daughter MRS. ADA REED of Enid, Oklahoma and grandchildren.
