Thursday, June 22, 1944 Bowie Man Dies of Accident Injuries Final rites for FRED HUGHES, 62, victim of a highway accident near Nocona, were held Wednesday June 14 at Burgess Funeral Chapel with services by Dr. T. C. VINSON and Rev. A. J. QUINN. The body was taken overland to Ranger, his former home, where interment was made. Mr. Hughes died Tuesday in a Bowie hospital where he had been taken after being struck by a truck. He was employed by the Sinclair Pipeline Co. and had made his home in Bowie for the past two years. He was a native of Iowa. Survivors are his widow, and these children and stepchildren, MRS. BERTHA FAY LANGSTON of Bowie, Corporal FRED R. HUGHES and Lt. LEWIS HUGHES at the Fort Worth Army Air Field, JACK SANDERFORD of Dallas, BOB SANDERFORD of Los Angeles, eight grandchildren and two brothers.
