July 18, 1940 J. V. MENDENHALL Funeral services for JAMES VICTOR MENDENHALL, 49, were held at the Burgess Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 16 with Rev. JOHN WEBB officiating, assisted by Rev. A. J. QUINN. Interment was at the Prairie Branch cemetery directed by Burgess Funeral Home. He had been a resident of Bowie for a number of years. He passed away at Throckmorton, July 14. Survivors include four sons, CLARENCE and RAYMOND of Throckmorton, EARL of Camp Bowie, OLLIE of Fredonia, Arizona; three daughters MISS RUBY at Throckmorton and MISSES LARUE and EUNICE at Bowie; three brothers JAMES and JERRY of Throckmorton, and WILLIE of Joy. Pallbeaerers were JACK RHYNE, J. A. BRITE, OSCAR UNDERWOOD, BOB MONROE, J. W. CHANCELLOR, and WESLEY HICKMAN. JOE LANCASTER JOSEPH WOODROW LANCASTER died Thursday, July 17, age of 23, after an illness of only a few days. He was born in Bowie, August 31, 1917. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Rev. A. L. QUINN officiating, arranged by Burgess Funeral Home. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. LANCASTER; two brothers W. H. and ROBERT of Bowie, and two sisters MRS. WINNIE BELL ROBERTSON of Marlow, Oklahoma and MRS. LUCILE COLEMAN of Bowie.
