P. SHERRILL who moved to Wichita Falls. WILLIAM BRAXTON STOGNER Funeral services for WILLIAM BRAXTON STOGNER, “UNCLE BILLIE,” were held at the Methodist Church Friday afternoon. He died Thursday evening at the home of his daughter MRS. C. V. CARROLL of near Gainesville. Services were conducted by Rev. LEON MILNER assisted by Rev. JOHN NOTHALF. The George G. Carroll and Son Funeral Home of Gainesville arranged the interment at the Mountain Park cemetery east of Saint Jo. UNCLE BILLIE was born January 8, 1845 in Kemper County, Mississippi. He volunteered in the Civil War in 1861, went through the war and was honorably discharged in 1865. He married MISS NANCY CASTLE in 1868 and to this union were born twelve children, all of whom lived to be grown and have families, and ten of whom are still living. MRS. STOGNER preceded him in death by 25 years. Survivors are four daughters Mrs. Carroll of Gainesville, MRS. NANNY FOSTER of Santa Anna, California, MRS. BETTY ATHA of Lawton, Oklahoma, MRS. LUCY LAWLER of Burkburnett; six sons, J. R. of Norman, W. O. of Oklahoma City, J. M. of Minot, North Dakota, N. D., H. R. of Gainesville, T. A. of El Paso, and GEORGE of Saint Jo, more than 100 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren. Two Accidents on Highway Between Saint Jo and Nocona ARTHUR M. STOUT, farmer of Nocona, was killed instantly when struck by an automobile Friday evening. Mr. Stout was leading one of his horses on the north side of the highway, a few miles out of Nocona, when the car driven by J. A. MCELWEE of Muskogee, Oklahoma, struck him, throwing him about twelve feet into the air. Mr. McElwee stopped to render aid, but Stout died instantly. On Monday, three persons were injured when their car sideswiped a bridge and bumbled into the creek about 8 miles west of Saint Jo on Highway 5. Those in the car were MRS. JOHN GLEBOFF and twin sons KENNETH and BILL of Texarkana, enroute to San Francisco. 30 Years Ago in the Tribune SMITH C. PEDIGO and wife were guests of S. M. KING and wife. MISS KISS DAVIS, after spending a couple of months with MISS DAVE BLEVINS at Tulsa, Oklahoma, returned home. HENRY PHILLIPS and family from Nocona came to visit relatives. DR. E. C. ADAMS bought DR. H. N. WILSON’S residence property at Dye Mound. Dr. Wilson will moved to Memphis, Texas. S. H. PEERY and son GEORGE, JAP FIELD, and JOHN DONNELL were in Fort Worth where Mr. Peery bought five carloads of steers to be shipped to his ranch south of Saint Jo. MISS PEARL GILES and MISS CARRIE CRUMP went to Memphis, Texas to visit MRS. NEWT ANTHONY and MISS IVA MCGILL. MISS ISLA BELLAH visited her sister MRS. A. M. GORDON at Eddy, Texas. Brother THEDFORD of Bulcher filled his regular appointment here. Brotehr VAUGHN preached. Last Wednesday, the 22nd, ED DOWD, NEAL SMITH and UNCLE BILL ETIER went to Ryan, Oklahoma with F. M. DOWD’S household goods. MRS. E. O. MORRIS, who has visited her daughter MRS. W.F. BURNS at the Bulcher community, went to Corinth to visit relatives.
