The ceremony was read by Rev. GEORGE R. SLAGLE, Methodist minister. J. B. STOUT accompanied the couple. She is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. BRUCE STEWART of Hedley, Texas. She is a graduate of Hedley High School. Grottie-Morse MISS METTIE GROTTIE and LEE MORSE were united in marriage Saturday, Sept. 23 at Gainesville. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.G. GROTTIE of Tyler Bluff. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. JIM SAPPINGTON of Nocona. Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. JIM SAPPINGTON, MISS ALICE RAY and DOYLE MARTIN. They will make their home in Nocona where he is employed. A clever party and shower was given by MRS. IDA BROWN for her daughter MRS. C. C. SHARP of Alvord last Saturday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames CLARENCE DUNN, WILLIS WOOD, DAISY PERKINS, LUKE GRANT, ERNEST CUNNINGHAM, Y. O. GRESHAM, JIM MELTON, FIELD GRANT HOOVER, M. L. DRABING, CLYDE YETTER, ROY LUSK, OSCAR JACKSON, W. M. MARTIN, LONNIE YOUNG and MISS VERA COOK. Sending gifts were Mesdames CECIL LAWLER, CAROL LAWLER, H. M. LUSK, ROSA DAVIS, G. B. LAUDERDALE, PEARL HOLLAND, O’DAVIS DONNELL, ROSA TUCKER, MABLE MCMURRAY, and Misses DOROTHY JO LAUDERDALE, DORIS ROGERS, MARTHA LOU OWENS, JANICE WILKERSON and MARDELL DAVIS. CLAUDE PURYEAR Wetumka, Oklahoma: CLAUDE PURYEAR, 63, one of the best known residents of this city, died at the home of his sister MRS. EARL CHOWINS, Thursday afternoon August 31, following an illness of two months from heart disease. Mr. Puryear was a native of Saint Jo, born 1876. He came to Wetumka 38 years ago and made his home since that time at Wetumka. He is survived by three sisters MRS. CHOWLINS, MRS. JOHN MCGIBBONEY of Okmulgee, MRS. B. W. JOHNSON of Wichita Falls, and three brothers, W. T. and CRUMP PURYEAR of Wetumka and SID PURYEAR of Holdenville. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Wetumka Friday, Sept. 1. CLAUDE PURYEAR was a first cousin of J. T. PURYEAR of Saint Jo. JOHN WESLEY DAVISON JOHN WESLEY DAVISON died at his home in Maryville Sunday, Sept. 24, 1939 at the age of 86 years 5 months, 14 days. Funeral services were held at the Marysville Baptist Church Monday, Sept. 25 with ministers E. G. PENNINGTON and J. L. JORDAN of Gainesville and LEON TURNER of Marysville officiating. Flower girls were MAURICE HOLCOMBE, ROSALIE DAVISON, BETTY JEAN DAVISON, BETTY PENNINGTON, WILLIE JEAN DAVISON, JESSIE DAVISON and MARJORIE DUFFEY. Pallbearers were his grandsons, J. M. DUFFEY, S. L. DUFFEY, DUFFEY DAVISON, CHESTER DAVISON, IVAN DAVISON and EARL ROBINSON. Interment was in the Marysville cemetery arranged by Scott Bros. The deceased was born April 1, 1853 in Douglas County, Georgia. He married JOHANA MARGARET BURTON Sept. 13, 1872. They moved to Texas in 1876 settling in the Marysville community. He joined the Baptist Church when a young man and was a member of the Marysville Baptist Church and a mason. He is survived by his wife, MRS. J. W. DAVISON, seven children, W. J. DAVISON of Marysville, ELIZABETH WRIGHT of Marysville, J. F. DAVISON of Gainesville, MRS. S. M. DUFFEY of Marysville, J. O. DAVISON of Canadian, Texas, MRS. D. A. MARTIN of Santa Anna, California. He was preceded in death by three children, MRS. ALLIE KING, MRS. FANNY MCCOLLUM and Rev. L. P. DAVISON. He is survived by 28 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, two brothers HENRY DAVISON and ALEX DAVISON of Vellarica, Georgia and one sister MRS. RACHEL TIDWELL of Vellarica, Georgia.
