P. MCCOLLUM Co. in the oil fields nine miles north of here, was almost instantly killed when an east bound Katy passenger train hit the car in which he was riding at the crossing near the Nocona depot Wednesday morning 1:20. BLONDY ROBERTS, who was riding in the back seat with Lamont, suffered an injured back but his condition is not serious. He was taken to the home of R. T. ANDERSON in Nocona after the accident. SAM ADCOCK, driver of the automobile, and another occupant of the front seat escaped with bruises and lacerations. MRS. PARILEE EDES / EADES MRS. PARILEE EDES, 65 years of age, died at the family residence four miles north of Saint Jo Saturday morning, Dec. 4 at 12:15. Funeral services were conducted at Fairview Saturday afternoon by Rev. N. R. HARALSON, pastor of the Baptist Church following by interment at Fairview cemetery, C. H. DUNBAR in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Edes is survived by her husband, W. T. EDES and nine children, three sons and six daughters. Sons: TOM EDES and MELVIN EDES of Saint Jo, JOHN EDES of Gainesville. Daughters: MRS. MOLLIE TROLINGER and MRS. CORDA STERLING of Bowie, MRS. LULA NICHOLS of Gainesville, MRS. EULA PARKS of Electra, MRS. MAGGIE COLE and MRS. CORA KITES of Hollis, Oklahoma. All were present except Tom and John who did not arrive in time. She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters, GEORGE W. WILSON of Saint Jo, M. F. WILSON of Ardmore, Oklahoma, J. H. WILSON of Elmore City, Oklahoma, J. R. WILSON of Ambrose, Texas, MRS. ALICE CRISP of Oklahoma City and MRS. MOLLIE RYAN. Mrs. Edes was the first member baptized into the Antioch Baptist Church after it was organized and it was the second Baptist Church organized in Montague County. Gladys News MISS FAY BONNER entertained the young folks with a birthday party Friday night, Dec. 8. MISSES CAPITOLIA WEBB, BESSIE and AMY WILKINSON and FAY ATHA spent Friday with MIESES VERNA and CYNTHIA CARLTON. MISS MAIRE ATHA visited MISS FAY BROWN. The Gladys football team visited Hardy and played a game, defeated 27 to 22. W. H. WEBB and family took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. R. O. HARVEY. C. D. BROOKS and family spent Sunday with the family of J. M. LEATHERWOOD. Mr. and Mrs. BARNEY EMBRY, Mr. and Mrs. ULIS BARNES and son spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. DILL at Saint JO. Mr. and Mrs. JOSH HARRIS and family of Hardy spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. HORACE EMBRY. Dye Mound News MISS LINNIE BRYAN of Saint Jo visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. ALF MARTIN. Mr. and Mrs. JOHN RAYMOND returned from visiting Mr. and Mrs. WILL PARR at Ryan. MISS DOLLIE SUTTLES spent Sunday with MISS ONA BROGDON. MRS. L. A RICE of Dallas is the guest of MRS. ZULA YOUNG. Mr. and Mrs. WILL PETREE and MRS. NORMAN JOHNSON were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. CORDUS BRYANT. Mr. and Mrs. ALBERT BROGDON of Duncan, Oklahoma spent Sunday with his mother MRS. GEORGE UNBERSON / UMBERSON. They were accompanied home by Mr. and Mrs. JIM MOFLEY / MOTLEY. J. B. JACKSON made a business trip to Gainesville. Mr. and Mrs. WILL WATSON of Fort Worth and Mr. and Mrs. COLLIER were guests of MRS. SPEER. Mr. and Mrs. TOBE SAMPLES were in Montague. Mr. and Mrs. NORMAN JOHNSON were guests of Mr. and Mrs. EUGENE JOHNSON at Mallard. New Citizens MRS. J. E. FAULKNER of Collinsville, wife of J. E. FAULKNER, manager of The Famous, accompanied by her sons JAMES EDWARD and JOHN MORGAN, and little daughter EVELYN came in to make their home here. They will occupy the residence of MRS. S. F. GASS who recently went to Thackerville to live with her daughters. Mr. Faulkner is now wearing a smile that won’t come off. S. M. LAUDERDALE purchased the PRICE Meat Market and fixtures and will continue the business at the same stand.
