Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Forestburg with Rev. A. L. DENNIS, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Perryman cemetery with Dunbar Funeral in charge. Pallbearers were HARRY MEDLEY, O. R. COOK, J. M. DUNN, W. Z. HENDRICKS, W. R. ORREL and GEORGE D. WILEY. Survivors were his wife, one daughter MRS. OLA MAE ZUSCHLAG of San Antonio, two sons HOMER of San Antonio and ROSS of Forestburg, two sisters, MRS. LIZZIE BOX of Hilton, Oklahoma and MISS JETTIE LITTELL of Forestburg, and two brothers ARTHUR LITTELL of Clinton, Oklahoma and MILTON LITTELL of Forestburg. HORACE LITTELL was born Sept. 21, 1885, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. GEORGE LITTELL of Forestburg. He married MISS MINNIE PERRYMAN in 1912. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Church and a mason. He served on the school board for more than ten years and was one of the outstanding citizens of the community. MRS. OTTO DOWD Funeral services for MRS. OTTO DOWD, who passed away in the Gainesville hospital Friday night, were held Saturday afternoon at the Shady Grove church with Rev. J. O. LITTLE, Methodist pastor, conducting the service. Interment was in Shady Grove cemetery by Scott Bros. Funeral Home. Pallbearers were L. E. MANGLE, E. NEWBY, J. L. JETTON, BUCK PICKETT, B. E. LAMBERT, and HAROLD PEMBROKE. MISS ESSIE LONA BROWN was born March 28, 1913 in Shady Grove, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. I. BROWN. She was married to OTTO DOWD Mary 4, 1935. She had been a member of the Methodist Church since 1925. Survivors are her husband, one daughter SUE ANN, one son BILLIE IRVING, her parents; four sisters, MRS. CLARK BLACK of Nocona, MRS. HUGH SNAPP of Illinois Bend, MRS. JOHN JOHNSON of Hereford, MRS. ED COOL of New Mexico; seven brothers, JOE B. BROWN of Nocona, BILL BROWN of Oklahoma City, RICHARD BROWN of Mobettie, NOBLE BROWN and WESLEY BROWN of Shady Grove, HARVEY BROWN of Abilene and RAY BROWN of Big Springs. MISS OPAL PARKER, well known through Saint Jo and vicinity, recently purchased Bernice’s Beauty Shop which is located in Thompson’s Barber Shop. MRS. BERNICE GOWER, former owner, will be connected with the operation of the shop. Mrs. Gower recently brushed up on beauty methods and will offer the best and newest methods. Miss Parker announced that a contest for a new name for the shop and invites the laides to all on her for details. Saint Jo Development Club Organized Mothers Honored with Banquet The Home Economics girls honored their mothers with a banquet Wednesday night at the high school. The mothers were received in an attractively decorated reception room by hostesses FRANCES HEMPHILL and BLANCHE HAMMER. The guests were welcomed at the door by DORIS LAUDERDALE and BEATRICE MATNEY. The guests were served by the Agriculture boys. Toasts were given by MARTHA JOE to the Agriculture boys, JOAN KING to the mothers, and BLANCHE HAMMER to the Home Economics sponsor, MISS KING. Special guests were MISS MARY GOLDMAN as speaker, MRS. UNDERWOOD, both of the C.I.A. faculty. Special guests of Saint Jo were MRS. D. M. RUSSELL, MRS. H. D. FIELDS Jr., MRS. M. L. DRABING, MISS RUTH SCOTT, MRS. WALTER HOOVER, MRS. TAYLOR C. DAVIS, MRSY ROY HUCHTON, MISS ANNETTE LOMBARDO, MISS KATHERINE ROGERS and MISS DORIS CLARK. Presbyterian Missionary Society Eight members of the Presbyterian Missionary Society met at church. MRS. LUKE GRANT gave a talk. MRS. MAXIE DILL was in charge of the lesson study. Burns Send Boggess to Hospital Muenster: CECIL BOGGESS of Saint Jo was in a hospital here Thursday suffering with burns received in a gasoline explosion near Bulcher, burned about the face and shoulders. He is an employee of Kingery Brothers Drilling Co. and was at work on their lease when the accident occurred, transported to the Muenster hospital by fellow workmen. Friday, February 10, 1939 Wedding Held for TRUBENBACH-SWIRCZYNSKI Muenster: On her 22nd birthday, MISS ISABELLE TRUBENBACH became the bride of ARNOLD SCIRCZYNSKI Monday morning in a ceremony read at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the presence of friends and relatives, Rev. FROWIN KOERDT, pastor, officiated. ANTHONY LUKE, organist, played the music. A floor length gown of white velvet was chosen by the bride as her wedding costume with a full length veil attached to a silver cap, with white satin slippers. The bridal bouquet was comprised of white carnations. MISS RITA SWIRCZYNSKI, sister of the groom, attended the bride. She was attired in a satin dress of aqua blue and satin slippers of the same shade with a sweetpea corsage. FRANK TRUBENBACH, brother of the bride, was best man. MRS. MARY NORVILL MRS. MARY NORVILL, age 67, died Sunday morning at her home, following a lingering illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the family home Monday afternoon with Rev. LEON MILNER of the Methodist Church and Rev. PAUL THOMPSON of the Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Mountain Park cemetery arranged by Scott Bros. Pallbearers were LUKE GRANT, C. F. PHILLIPS, J. H. FIELD, G. C. DAVIS, OTHO DONNELL and D. T. FARRIER. MISS MARY ADA MAHAFFEY was born at GAFFORD’S Chapel in Hopkins County on April 25, 1871, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. MARTIN MAHAFFEY. She became a member of the Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs. She married JOHN ALLEN NORVILL in 1889. She came to this community and made her home since that time. In the passing of Mrs. Norvill, Saint Jo lost one of its most loved and cherished citizens. She is survived by one son J. O. NORVILL of Dallas; three daughters, MRS. MARIE CONE and MRS. JEWEL FOOSHEE of Nocona and MISS JESSIE NORVILL in California; one grandson J. H. CONE; three sisters MRS. CLISTIE HENDERSON of Cumby, MRS. BALZIE WILLIAMS of Greenville, Texas, and MRS. ELLA NORVILL of Munday, Texas. Her husband preceded her in death in June 4, 1937. Card of thanks from Mr. and Mrs. J. O. NORVILL, Mr. and Mrs. GRADY FOOSHEE, Mr. and Mrs. GUY CONE, and J. H. CONE. Local ED GALLAGHER and CECIL TEAGUE attended the all day efficient lubrication school which was held at Bowie for all Texaco dealers of this district. Mountain View News Mr. and Mrs. J. L.SNAPP and Miss DORTHY MADDOX visited Mr. and Mrs. OLIVER TUCKER. Mr. and Mr. EUAL TALLEY, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. TALLEY, and MISS ADIS TALLEY were at Gainesville. MRS. ROY HURLEY visited the Ladies Aid at Bonita. Mr. and Mrs. OLIVER TUCKER visited Mr. and Mrs. TOM HURLEY. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. SNAPP and children spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. CARL FATHEREE of Dixie. Mr. and Mrs. PAUL BOYD of Hardy visited Mr. and Mrs. TOM HURLEY Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. TALLEY and children had as guests Mr. and Mrs. O. A. TALLEY and sons, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. SNAPP and children, Mr. and Mrs. OLIVER TUCKER and children, Mr. and Mrs. ROY HURLEY and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. EUAL TALLEY, MISS DORTHY MADDOX, Mr. ARLEY and FLOIS MILLER, MARCUS WEST and IRA REED.
