BOYD SAINT JO - Herschel A. Boyd, 89, olf Saint Jo died Oct. 17, 1996, at Horizon Manor Nursing Home in Nocona at 12:35 a.m. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo. Herschel was born June 11, 1907, near Forestburg to Robert Tillman Boyd and Annie Worley Boyd. He married Lena Mae Griffin on June 29, 1940, in Nocona. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo, lived in the Saint Jo area most of his life, a veteran of the Navy during World War II where he served aboard the Suwanee in the South Pacific. He retired form Foxworth- Gilbraith Lumber Company after 35 years. He was a Mason, and he enjoyed singing in choirs, quartets and other special events. Surviors include wife, Lena Mae Boyd, Saint Jo; son, Herschel Lee Boyd, Nocona; and three grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, John Paul Boyd, his parents, Robert Tillman and Annie Worley Boyd; one sister, Velma Hurley; and five brothers, Ray, Garland, Charlie, Paul and Ernel Boyd. Pallbearers were Wendell Thompson, Bill Lawler, Mack Thweat, Weldon Dunn, George Pedigo, J. C. Donnell, Eddie Yetter. ********************************************************************************
