Mel Caraway and Rev. David Howeth officated. Burial followed at Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo. A homemaker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She lived most of her life in the Saint Jo area. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and a past member of the Saint Jo Twentieth Century Club. She loved rock collecting and painting with water colors and oils. She worked as a payroll clerk at Camp Howze while her husband was in the Navy. She was also a clerk for Foxworth-Galbraith and Texas-New Mexico Power Co. She was born May 19, 1917, in Saint Jo the daughter of D. D. and Bida Alice Duffer Griffin. She married Herschel A. Boyd on June 29, 1940 in Nocona. She died at 8 p.m. Jan. 21 at Horizon Manor Nursing Home in Nacona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel A. Boyd, on Oct. 17, 1996; a son, John Paul Boyd, July 17, 1996; her parents, Dr. Dosier and Bida Alice Griffin; four sisters, Mildred Rose, Johnnie Griffin, Alice D Parks and Pauline Cowart; and a brother, Cecil "Jelly Roll" Griffin. She is survived by: her son, Herschel L. Boyd of Nocona; and three grandsons, Aaron Boyd of Wichita Falls, Darrin Boyd of Austin and Wesley Boyd of Nocona. ********************************************************************************
