Funeral services were held for her in the Methodist church, of which she was a member, on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. R. Atchley of Lewisville, assisted by Rev. Dean Breedlove. Interment was in Mountain Park Cemetery under supervision of C. H. Dunbar and Scott Bros. jointly. Pall bearers were H. D. Field, Jr., J. H. All of this group of young people, with the exception of Miss Wells had been lifelong friends and schoolmates of Miss Johnnye, and six of them graduated with her from Saint Jo High School in '23. Surviving her are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Griffin, and four sisters, Mrs. Leonard Rose of Ackerly, Miss Alice Dee, Miss Pauline and Lena Mae; and a brother, Cecil, all of whom are at home with their parents. Johnnye Inez Griffin was born in Dallas, on March 9, 1906. She came to Saint Jo with her parents when she was just a little girl, and except for two years in Sanger, she has spent all her young life in Saint Jo among the friends who have learned to love her sunny nature, her dependable character, and her cheerful, worthwhile life. She attended Saint Jo public school and graduated, as previously stated, in 1923. The following summer she and her sister Mildred, now Mrs. Leonard Rose, attended N. T. S. T. C. at Denton, and since that time they have been teaching together at different points in West Texas. This year they were both teaching at Ackerly. She joined the local Methodist church under the ministry of Rev. Atchley when she was 16 years of age. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were her uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Griffin of Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Griffin of Forestburg; Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Griffin of Freemound, and L. F. Griffin of Byers, who arrived too late for the funeral services. Her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Griffin, Dallas, Mrs. and Mrs. Jimmie Griffin of Forestburg; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Griffin of Freemound, and Oval Griffin of Dallas, and her brother-in-law's brother Aaron Rose of Ackerly. ********************************************************************************
