C. Higgins, 91, died Sunday morning at 6:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Ragland of Cason. She had been ill for some time. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Rocky Branch Church of Christ, and burial was at the Spring Hill Cemetery. J. W. Riley, minister of the Church of Christ at Mt. Pleasant, conducted services. Mrs. Higgins was born Mary Elizabeth Pinkard in Chambers County, Alabama, on October 29, 1848. She moved to Texas with her husband and children 59 years ago and settled in the Rocky Branch community. Her husband preceded her in death 14 years ago. Since then she had made her home with her daughter at Cason. She was one of the oldest members of the Church of Christ, having joined sooned after its organization. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Ragland of Cason; Mrs. J. W. Ponder of Omaha; and J. C. Higgins of El Paso, five other children are deceased. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were C. J. Smith, W. D. Russell, E. G. Terrell, R. R. Montgomery, Tom Wardlow, and R. M. Wise. Those attending the services from out of town included her son, J. C. Higgins of El Pason, and a nice Miss Willie Terrell of Ozark, Ala.
