All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mrs. John T. Key Found Dead In Bed Early Monday December 26, 1938 Mrs. John T. Key was found dead in bed about 7:00 o'clock Monday morning. Although her health had been poor for several years, her sudden death came as a shock to the family and friends. Mrs. Key, 43, had lived in Daingerfield 25 years. Formerly Miss Zoe Davis of Cason, she was married Oct. 12, 1913, to Mr. Key, who has owned and managed a general merchandise store in Daingerfield many years. Two sisters, Mrs. S. R. Henderson of Houston, Mrs. J. D. Butler of Oklahoma City, and one brother, Zeb Davis of Houston, survive with the bereaved husband. Rev. J. O. Jolly, assisted by Rev. Richard Irvin, conducted funeral services at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Flower girls were Misses Gloria Hooker, Maurine Old, Geraldine Hervey, Emma Sue Hooton, Marion Moore, LaVonne Dalby and Louise Scott. H. M. Connor, T. W. Connor, J. B. Old, Jesse Jennings, J. B. Rivers and Fred Connor acted as pallbearers. Among out-of-town people present for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Zeb Davis of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Old, Josephine, Mrs. Chester Coker, Mr. and Mrs. Geo Cecil Key of Naples, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Heard of Waco. Burial rites were held at Blevins Cemetery near Cason.
