McClung Succumbs After Long Illness Monday March 2, 1936 Following an illness of several months, Mrs. J. D. McClung passed away at her home in the north part of the city Monday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock. She had suffered a cancerous affection, which had confined her to her bed for a long time. She was 58 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. McClung was a native of Alabama, but had resided in Titus county for the major portion of her life. She was a devout Christian character, and devoted much of her life to the welfare of her family and friends, so that she was respected and loved by all who knew her. Deceased is survived by her husband, Rev. J. D. McClung, five sons and two daughters as follows: Rev. W. O. McClung of Pickton, Arley O., Wallace T., Eugene J., Levy D. McClung, Mrs. Morris Harbour and Miss Fairy Lee McClung, all of this county. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. W. Conkle and Mrs. Ollie Powell, of this county. Funeral services were held at Hickory Hill church, in the community where she lived for many years, under the direction of Rev. A. J. Finley of Omaha, assisted by Rev. J. N. Vandiver of this city, Interment followed at the nearby cemetery. The services were held at 2:30 o'clock, with a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends assembled to pay their last respects to her memory. ---
