Mrs. Sallie McPherson Dies At Age 86 in Hughes Springs
November 26, 1937

Mrs. Sallie McPherson, 86, prominent and beloved pioneer citizen of Cass and
Morris County, died at her home in Hughes Springs Friday afternoon at 1:00
o'clock.

A resident of this section of the state since she was a small child, Mrs.
McPherson had been a loyal member of the Cross Roads Baptist church about 65
years.

She leaves six children, Otis McPherson of West Texas, Mrs. Nora Gibson of
Marietta, Mrs. Ora Hankins of Center Point community, Mrs. Bell Williams of
Pittsburg, Mrs. Joe Richard of Arkansas and Mrs. John Lanier of Center Point
community.

Funeral services were conducted at the Cross Roads Baptist Church Saturday
Nov. 27, at 11:00 o'clock. Rev. J. K. Williams, Rev. F. C. Strickland and Rev.
J. W. Reeder, Baptist ministers, of Hughes Springs. Burial was made in the
Cross Roads Cemetery.

Mrs. McPherson reared one grandson, Cecil McPherson, who survives with several
other grandchildren.

She had been confined to her bed three weeks. Her death was attibuted to the
clotting of blood in her viens.
