All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Joyce Walker, 7, Killed In Dallas Traffic Accident April 26, 1938 Joyce Jacquelin Walker, seven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Walker, of Dallas, died at Baylor Hospital there after being crushed under a car in an accident at Pennsylvania and Second. Her skull was fractured and she also received internal injuries. The child was en route home from school and saw the friendly, reassuring wave of the traffic patrol-man, Pat Smith. Then she walked into the path of a car driven by William C. Smith, who did not see her until too late. The body was brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dee Walker here Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held at Clark's Cemetery in the Jenkins community Wednesday afternoon. W. S. Wiley, minister of the Church of Christ in Mt.Pleasant was in charge. He was assisted by Rev. B. L. Hatch, local Methodist pastor. Pallbearers were Reese Jones, R. M. Freeman, S. O. Newell and Lee Elliott, all of Dallas. The child is survived by her parents, two sisters, Imogene and Clarice, and a brother, T. C. Jr. Those from Dallas attending were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Byington, Mr. and Mrs. Reese Jones, R. M. Freeman, Mrs. S. O. McGlossam, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Smith, Mrs. Day, Lee Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Godberry and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Walker and children.
