Pollock to collect wages or other compensation due him for his service as a Texas Ranger. *********************************************************************** BEGIN ACTUAL TRANSCRIPTION: *************************** State of Texas County of Nacogdoches Know all men by these presents that I, Lafayette M. Means of the County and State aforesaid, have nominated, constituted and appointed W. C. Pollock, also of the county and state aforesaid, and I the said Means do by these presents nominate, constitute and appoint the said Pollock, my true and lawful agent and attorney in fact, for me and in my name, place and stead to collect and receive all the money, wages and pay due or owing to me from the State of Texas under an Act of the legislature of said state at the last session thereof (in1856) for the purpose of making an appropriation to pay off the ranging companies called into the service of the state in the Fall of the year 1854 - for my services as a ranger in the company of rangers called out as aforesaid, commanded by Capt. John G. Walker: And to receipt to said state or the ther proper officer or agent thereof for the same. Hereby ratifying and confirming all and singular the acts of my said agent in the premises as fully and completely as if I were personally present and acting for myself.
