Burial will be in Simpson Campground Cemetery under direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches. Mrs. Sowell died Dec. 27 in Nacogdoches. She was born April 15, 1908, in Nacogdoches to the late Jess and Nellie Acrey Wilburn. She was a homemaker and member of Woden Baptist Church. She was precded in death by her husband John David Sowell in 1972, and daughter, Edna Johnson. Survivors include sons, David Eugene Sowell, Chireno, James Edward Sowell, Nacogdoches, and John Sowell Jr, Woden; Daughters, Lydia Mae Wallace and Bonnie Sue Jacobs, both of Woden, Jessie Goff, Chireno, and Betty Lummus, Nacogdoches; 28 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m Sunday at the funeral home.
