Although Mrs. Chandler has no relatives buried in this cemetery, she has lovelingly restored it and is maintaining it through a trust fund which she established and a cemetery association. She was the daughter of Robert A.B. McCarter and Mariah Louisa Meador. She was born in Navarro County, Texas on Nov. 27, 1857. She married Joseph Milton Greenup about 1872. He was born Dec. 18, 1855 in Cole County, MO. His father was John C. Greenup and his mother was Isabella Wray _______ Pandora died on January 31, 1877 during childbirth with her one and only child. They are both buried in the Dunn Cemetery, Eureka, Navarro County, TX. A photo of Pandora McCarter is found on page 120 of ROBERT A.B. However, the RECORD OF AGES found in the Family Bible of Oscar Leander Hancock which was in possession of Mollie Johnson, daughter of Docia Hancock and Leuellen Johnson, indicates Docia died on August 1, 1899..."Docia Alice H., daughter of Oscar Leander Hancock and Rebecca, departed life on August 1, 1899." The original of this RECORD OF AGES is in possession of Edna Yarbrough of Shreveport, Louisiana. Docia A. Hancock married Luellen Johnson around 1894. Docia is buried in the Dunn Cemetery, Eureka, Navarro County, TX *HANCOCK, Mary R.- Mary Rebecca McDonald Hancock was born on September 11, 1844 in Lauderdale County, MS, to Martin Donald McDonald (b.Feb 1824, Richmond, NC - died after 1900, TX? ) and to Lucinda Ezell (born March 28,1827, Summit, Pike County, MS). Lucinda Ezell was the daughter of Benjamin Ezell and Rebecca Morris of Pike County, MS. Rebecca McDonald married Oscar Leander Hancock on July 19, 1865 in Vernon, Jackson Parish, LA. She and her husband, Oscar Leander Hancock were members of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. They were dismissed by Letter on January 1870 which may be about the time they immigated to Navarro County, TX. Mary Rebecca McDonald Hancock died on September 5, 1884 and is buried in the Dunn Cemetery, Eurkea, Navarro County, TX. Emma and Jim had 4 children: Ida G. McCarter (b.15 Aug 1878); Carl McCarter ( b.29 May 1880- twin); Pearl McCarter (b.29 May 1880-twin); and Claude Vernon McCarter (b.28 July 1883). Johnson Section of land near Eureka, Navarro County, TX. He was a farmer all of his life. He married 3 times: 1) Josephine McDonald - 3 Feb 1873, Navarro County, TX; 2) Emily L. Thompson - Sept. 20, 1877, Navarro County, TX; and 3) Georgetta A. Marlow "Etta" on May 21, 1889, Navarro County, TX. One child, Robert Martin McCarter (b.9 Dec 1874,Navarro County,TX) was born of the 1st marriage. Four children, Ida G. McCarter (15 Aug 1878), Carl McCarter (29 May 1880), Pearl McCarter (29 May 1880) and Claude Vernon McCarter (28 Jul 1883) were born of the 2nd marriage. Robert A.B. McCarter married first to Sarah Ann Chance on May 24, 1838 in Sumpter County, AL. (B.Blanton, J.P.) Sarah Ann Chance was the daughter of Isaac S. Chance who consented to the marriage. Robert A. Bates McCarter married a 2nd time to Mariah Louisa Meador on Nov. 6, 1844 in Green County, AL. Mariah was born on Janaury 14, 1825 in North Carolina and died on Oct. 23, 1881 in Navarro County, TX. Her parents were Hugh Meador and Elizabeth Hendrick. Robert and Mariah lived in Alabama in 1845, in MS in 1848, and emigrated to Navarro County, TX by 1850 where he first appears on the Navarro County Tax Rolls as the owner of 6 slaves. They settled in the Dunn's Schoolhouse (Eureka) area. Her marriage was consented to by her brother-in-law, Asa Chaddick on August 14, 1843. (Lauderdale County Marriage Book A, p.1165). Within a few years, Lucinda and Martin Donald McDonald had moved to Vernon, Jackson Parish, LA where many of their family of 12 children were born. Shortly after the Civil War, the McDonalds joined other families and moved to Texas=2E They settled in the Dunn's Schoolhouse area (Eureka), Navarro County, TX. A land transaction dated Dec. 21, 1868 records Martin Donald McDonald's purchase of 320 acres from E.A. & Mary Miller on the waters of Chambers Creek, in the W.J. Lucinda died of consumption on Feb. 7, 1881 and is buried in the Dunn Cemetery, Eureka, Navarro County, TX. A few years later he and his son, Benjamin Franklin McDonald left Navarro County and herded 900 head of sheep to Val Verde County, TX.
