Grimes and E.S. Grimes, wife of F.M. Grimes of the State of Texas and county of Coryell for and in consideration of the sum of $100 ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to us in hand paid, receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge have this day bargained, sold, aliened and conveyed unto SAMU'L W. GRIMES of said State and County of NAVARRO all the rights title and interest we have in or any manner pertaining to a certain tract or parcel of land situated in State of Texas and County first above written on the head waters of POST OAK CREEK, the same being a North tributary of RICHLAND Creek about eighteen miles West of the town of Corsicana and on our own headright of 14 15/100 labors. Beginning from the SOUTH EAST CORNER of said survey NORTH BOUNDARY OF FLORENCE SURVEY N30 W870 vrs a stake Thence E. line of my Head write N30 W 434ve ro stake in bottom of East fork P.O. [Post Oak] Creek Thence S60 W 1300 vrs to a stake Prairie Thence S 60 W434 vr to stake from which a Mesquite bears N87 E10 v Thence N60 E 1300vr to the place of beginning Containing in all 100 ACRES more or less. To have and to hold the above described tract or parcel of land unto the said SAM'L W. GRIMES his heirs or assigns forever free from our heirs or assigns and we do by these presents agree to warrant and forever defend the title of the same unto the said SAM'L W. GRIMES his heirs or assigns free from the lawful claims of any and all persons whomsoever claims the same or any part thereof this the 23 day of JUNE 1868. F.M. GRIMES SEAL Attest: M.M. Burgess W. Doolen Additional Comments: Note: Sam Grimes was already in Navarro County when this deed was made. His brother, Thomas F. who bought 100 acres the same day was still in Coryell County. Both sons paid $100 for the 100 acres. T.F.'s land mentions corner of Sam'l while Sam's land is corner of Florence Survey.
