Mites Survey (can't read this name for certain) Know all men by these presents that I, L. McCord of the county and state afroesaid for and in consideration of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained, sold, delivered, and conveyed and by these presents to bargain, sell, alien and convey unto Roley [Raleigh] Hightower of said state and county his heirs and assigns forever the following described tract or parcel of land to wit: A part of the Jas D. Mites survey of 640 acres ? on the waters of post oad creek bout four miles west from the town of Dresden in said county and state and deeded to me by A. Warren on the 9 day of Dec 1869, the land having conveyed being described by the following field notes: Beginning at the corner on line between L. McCord and H.C. McCord stake two post oak trees for baring trees thence south 40 rod stake and two post oak trees bares, Thence south east 40 rod then se to Post Oak trees Bares; Thence 40 Rose North to a stake for corner in Clay Rout two post oak for baring trees; thence north West 40 rod up the McCord line to the Beginning containing ten acres more or less. To have and to hold said land together with all and singular the rights privileges to all and I said, L. McCord bind myself my heirs executers and administrators to all Roley Hightower his heirs and assigns against the claims of any and all persons in testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal using erajl? for seal this the Jan the 1st 1871. Lem McCord Signed in the present of G.B. Hughes Crank? Ward Additional Comments: Sallie Hightower, daughter of Rolley and Jane Thompson Hightower, married H.C. (Henry Clay) McCord. Both are buried in the McCord Cemetery which is probably where this land was located. It is approximately 6 miles south of Frost.
