Mabry at 4 o'clock aged 53, who died in the Veterans Hospital in Dallas Sunday, at the Methodist church with Rev. Maggart B. Howell, the pastor of the church conducting the rites, assisted by Rev. Tucker of Richland. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Dixie Richards, Richland; Mrs. Ruth Coker, Ennis; one brother, Henry Mabry, Richaland; two neices, Mrs. Hollis Pitts and Miss Mable Mabry, Blooming Grove; two nephews, Victor Mabry, Tyler and Dare Mabry, Kernes. Mr. Mabry was born and reared in this community, and for many years was in the cattle business. He was a Veteran of the World War. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mabry, pioneer residents of this community. Pall bearers were Hollis Pitts, A.A. Fagala, J.W. Harris, Ab Pevehouse, Tom Pevehouse, Jim Carroll, Drew Gillen and Volly Jaynes. Arrangements under the direction of the McCormick Funeral Service. Herrin, 71 who died at his home in Mertens Thursday night were held at the Mertens Baptist church Sat afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev Hall and Standlee conducting the rites. Mr. Herrin was a native of Marshall County, Alabama, but had resided in Navarro Co 45 years before moving to Mertens four years ago. Surviving are his wife and the following brothers and sistes: Mrs. W. L. Pevehouse, Blooming Grove, Mrs. V.C. Hill, Dallas; W.L. Herrin, McAllen; A.M. Herrin, Mertens, L.M. Herrin Tehuana and George and Floyd Herrin of Italy. Burial was made in the Richland cemetery with the McCormick Funeral serice in charge of arrangements. James Powers, Jr.; Viola A. McDonald; Principal M.A. Traylor. The Blooming Grove Times Vol LIII No 12 May 28, 1943 Hugh M. Bower, age 75 buried Friday. Died Thurs at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.A. Hand in Fort Worth. Services held from the Christian Church here Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. Joe Snell conducted the rites. Interment was in White Church cemetery. A native of Georgia, Mr. Bower came to Texas in 1893 and had resided at Blooming Grove 45 years. Surviving are the following children: Rex Bower, Corsican; Mrs. Floy Mae Hand, Fort Worth; Alberta Bower, Blooming Grove; Francise C. Bower, Blooming Grove; Mrs. Christine Blanton, Dallas; L.C. Bower, Fort Worth, Mrs. Lorene Moore, Ft. Worth; and Mres. Hazel Clark, Corsicana. Thirty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive. McCormick Funeral Service was in charge. The Blooming Grove Times Vol LIV No 16 Nov 24, 1944 Killed in Action. John R. Hewitt, Flight Officer killed over Germany in an attack on Madgeberg Sept 12. Graduate of Blooming Grove High. Aunt, Mrs. Ruby Ellis, grandmother, Mrs. J.O. McSpadden; Mother, Mrs. Lennie V. Donnell, Ft. Worth The Blooming Grove Times Vol LV No 41 Nov 24, 1945 J.H. Bacon of Katy, formerly of Blooming Grove, died Tues afternoon. Mr. Bacon was manager of the Wm Cameron Lumber Co at Blooming Grove for a number of years. He and his family moved from Blooming Grove to Katy about 8 years ago. Main street is not the main street, Fordyce is the main street. Gene Christi lives on south side of East Main street, ye he does not live on the main street, whereas Dr. Lowery lives on the main street and at the same time does not live on Main but Fordyce. See? Extending north and south, Mrs. Kelsey is on Kerr Street; C.L. Tillman Sr. is on Fordyce street, and Central Baptist parsonage (Bro Chumbley) is on west side of Hinkley. Main street is between the business section and the old railroad tracks; Sissom's south store doore is on 2nd street; The Christian church may have a south door, if it does it opens on 3rd street. Net Sewell and Edgar Spikes re on different sides of 4th street. The public school is on Colleg and John George across town on highway 22 is North Ferry. Mack Crawford who enlisted in the naval reserve about a month ago, was called for active service Thur of this week. Son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Crawford, leaves the Times office in a kind of a jam as there is not but two left ot set, make up, runn off, and mail two papers. He was in charge of the mailing department, casting, and making up the runs, besides doing a good deal of job work. Thomas Eugene Varnell was living in the vicinity of Morgan, Tx in the summer of 1933 at which time he disappeared and absented himself for more than 7 years and has not been seen or heard of since. Reburial services have not been arranged at this time. T.M. George, Sr. celebrated his 86th birthday in a quiet way at his home, Sat. June 6. Eighty six years is a long span but Uncle Tommy is still able to come to town and chat with his many friends. Funeral Service held Monday for P.W. Barham Phillip White Barham, 84, died at his home at 9:40a.m. Sunday June 8, after a lingering illness. Philip White Barham Feb 18, 1868 - Jun 8, 1952 Phil White Barham Monday Rites For Phillip W. Barham Funeral services for Phillip W. Barham, who died at his home in Blooming Grove Sunday, were held in the Blooming Grove Christian Church at 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Barham was born in Tennessee Feb. 18, 1868 and had resided in Blooming Grove for 75 years. Formerly engaged in framing, he was in the produce business for a number of years. He was a pioneer resident of this community, was well known and had many friends. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Barham; three sons, Joe, Nick and Phil R. Barham, all of Blooming Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Ellis Barnes, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The Rev. Herbert G. Dudley, Corsicana, had charge of the services. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Blooming Grove. Nephews acted as pallbearers - Sam, Robert, Herman, Kenneth, Estel and Joel Barham.. McCormick Funeral Service, had charge of arrangements.
