Hightower of Frost, died Tuesday, Nov. 17th 1914. The funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Wednesday morning at 11 p'clock, Rev. W.J. Aiken of Brandon conducting the sevices, after which the remains were conveyed to the Frost cemetery followed by a long funeral procession. Aletha Jane Thompson nee Hightower, was born June 11, 1828 at Tucaloosa Ala. From there she moved with her parents to Chickasaw County, Miss. where on Dec 18, 1850 she was married to R. Hightower, who still survives her at the age of nearly 96 years. Mr. and Mrs. Hightower came to Texas in 1858 settling in Red River County from which county they moved in 1868 to Kaufman county and in the fall of 1866, then moved to Navarro county with Mr. Hightower's nephew, R.J. Sanders. Since then Mr. and Mrs. Hightower have been living south of Frost. The public school was dismissed an hour Wednesday morning for the funeral. A large number of friends and relative from different parts of the state were here Wednesday to attend the funeral. Additional Comments: Raleigh (Rolly) died April 17, 1920 and is buried in Frost Cemetery beside his wife.
