He was a native of Georgia, born in Talbot County on Feb 16, 1832. His father Wm. Posey Edwards was a wealthy planter. He lived in Prattsburg and in 1858 moved to Butler and joined the firm of Joel E. Montfort. In 1860, Miss Henrietta LeSeur, daughter of Judge Meade LeSueur, a prominent citizen of Monroe County, GA, visited Butler, and they were soon married. Edwards, though a Union man, fought for the South. After the War in 1871, he moved to Chatfield, Navarro Co, Tx. Leaves wife and eight daughters and a son about fourteen years old. The youngest is a girl named after her father and about 5 years old. Within the past two years, two of his daughters have married farmers in this county; William Mizelle and Jules J. Kelt. Mr. Edward's father died before the War; his mother since came to Texas. He leave three brothers and two sisters; Dr. A.L. Edwards of Mexico, Col. W.P. Edwards of GA, M.T. Edwards of Navarro Co, TX.
