                      SCROGGINS RITES HELD FEB. 24

Funeral services for Eugene Scroggins, 85, were held Thursday, February
24, at 10:00 a.m., at Eubank Funeral Chapel. Rev. Bill Oliver officiated.
   Burial was in Hamilton/Beeman Cemetery at Retreat, Tx.
Mr. Scroggins had lived in the Canton, Tx. area the past nine years and
prior to that he had lived in Dallas. He was a retired farmer.
   Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Blanche Reed Scroggins of Canton; five
sons, W.T. Scroggins of Colmesneil, Tx., Archie L. Scroggins of Canton,
Cecil Scroggins of Cedar Hill, Tx., Albert Scroggins and Delbert Scroggins,
both of Dallas, two daughters, Mrs. Irene Moseley of Axtel, Tx., and Mrs.
Wanda Wilbanks of Frost; a brother, Ervin W. Scroggins of Corsicana; a sister, 
Mrs. Myrtle Hughes; 27 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
   Pallbearers were Charles Scroggins, Sammy Caughron, Randy Spears, Raymond 
Williams, Larry Parham and Wayne Wood.      

Additional Comments:
Eugene Scroggins born Jan. 21,1892, Died Feb. 22,1977 was the son of Thomas 
Jefferson Scroggins and Priscilla Norry Phillips. Both are buried at the New 
Chatfield Cemetery.                                                          
He was married to Alice Mariah Key, They Had four children. Hanna Irene, 
Willie Elizabeth, Wayvard Thomas and Archie Lee Scroggins. He married Blanche 
Reed and thay had six children. Billie Jean, Wanda Joyce, Ervin Lee, Cecil 
Finus, Albert Rolan and Delbert Nolan.
