All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** The Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Taylor County, Texas Tuesday, January 18, 1944 Buried Beneath Feed, Sweetwater Man Suffocates SWEETWATER, Jan. 17 Thomas Elwood Moore, about 55, died of suffocation Monday when he was buried under from 12 to 24 inches of cottonseed while working in the feed house of the Sweetwater Cotton Oil Co. The body was discovered by his son, James, 17, who was working in another part of the building. Moore was forking feed down from an incline. Moore came to Sweetwater from Ballinger and was employed by P.M. Ashley on his farm until two months ago when he quit to work for the Cotton Oil Company. Funeral will be held in Ballinger under the direction of the Wells funeral home. Survived by his widow; one daughter - Maggie Louise, 10 years; 4 sons - James, 17 and three serving overseas.
