Walker of Maryneal was informed Sunday of the death of her son, Pfc. John E. Walker, 11 January 1943 in Ne Guinea. Cause of death is unknown. Son of the late Rev. John E. Walker who held pastorate at Maryneal at the time of his death in 1941, Private Walker entered service and was assigned to the field artillery, 28 May 1942. Overseas a year, he died two days before his 22nd birthday. Private Walker, who was a graduate of Highland high school is survived by his mother; one brother - Carl Walker, ministerial student in Hardin-Simmons university; 4 sisters - Mrs. John Douglas Thorn of Blackwell; Mrs. M.F. Alderman of Maryneal, Rebecca and Marta Walker, also of Maryneal and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. M.M. Lowry of Dublin.
