For further information, please consult the records at the library.) Page 357 No. 168 - City of Corpus Christi vs Refugio VILLEREAL In Recorders Court Feby 8th 1877. Complaint filed by Wm OHLER charging defendant with drunkeness, disorderly conduct and the unlawful bearing of fire arms and the discharge of same in violation of city ordinance. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged when it was ordered by the court that he be fined twenty dollars and all costs in this behalf and it was further ordered that his pistol be forfeited to the city and that he stand committed to custody until said fine and costs are paid. No. 169 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Jacob STAFFORD In Recorders Court Feby 8th 1877. Complaint filed by Wm OHLER charging defendant with being guilty of drunkeness on Feby 7th 1877. And now defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged. When it was ordered that he be fined five dollars and all costs in this behalf and that he stand committed to custody until said fine and costs are paid. Page 358 No. 170 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Catareno LERMA In Recorders Court Feby 9th 1877. Complaint filed by Alice WRIGHT charging defendant with with (sic) being guilty of commiting an assault upon person of said affiant and the unlawful bearing of arms, drunkeness and disorderly conduct on Feby 8th 1877 all in violation of city ordinances in such cases made and provided. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when he as adjudged guilty by the court and it was ordered that he be fined twenty-five dollars and all costs in this behalf and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Whereupon defendant gave notice of appeal to City Councel. No. 171 - City of Corpus Christi vs Alice WRIGHT In Recorders Court Feby 9th 1877. Complaint filed by Wm OHLER charging defendant with being guilty of drunkeness, disorderly conduct and the unlawful bearing of fire arms in violation of city ordinances on Feby 9th 1877. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced herself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when she was adjudged guilty by the court and it was ordered that she be fined fifteen dollars and all costs in this behalf and that she stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Page 359 No. 172 - City of Corpus Christi vs John RANNAHAN In Recorders Court Feby 10th 1877. Complaint filed by Pat . WHELAN charging defendant with being guilty of drunkeness, disorderly conduct and using profane & obscene language within the city limits on Jany 22, 1877, contrary to city ordinances. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged. When it was ordered by the court that he be fined ten dollars and all costs in this behalf, and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. No. 173 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Fredrick COBLE In Recorders Court Feby 10th 1877. Complaint filed by Patrick WHELAN, City Marshal, charging defendant with being drunk and down within the city limits on Feby 9th 1877 in violation of city ordinance in such case made and provided. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged when it was ordered by the court that he be fined one dollar and all costs in this behalf, and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Page 360 No. 174 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Thomas BASQUES In Recorders Court Feby 12th 1877. Complaint filed by Alice WRIGHT charging defendant with being guilty of aiding and assisting a disorderly crowd and trying to intimidate a negro girl. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when it was considered by the court that the charge was not sustained, therefore defendant was discharged to go hence without day. No. 175 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Catereno LERMA In Recorders Court Feby 12th 1877. Complaint filed by Alice WRIGHT charging defendant with being guilty of disorderly conduct on Feby 9th 1877 in violation of city ordinance. And now defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial & plead not guilty, Whereupon the evidence was heard when it was considered by the court that the charge was not sustained therefore defendant was discharged to go hence without day. No. 176 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Alice WRIGHT In Recorders Court Feby 12th 1877. Complaint filed by Margareto VELASCAS, charging defendant with being guilty of discharging firearms with(in) the city limits in violation of city ordinance in such case made and provided on Feby 9th 1877. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced herself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon Page 361 the evidence was heard when she was adjudged guilty by the court and it was ordered that she be fined twenty-five dollars and all costs in this behalf and that she stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. (NOTE: Written next to list of fines: Fine and costs remitted on condition that she would remove out of the corporate limits.) No. 177 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Alice WRIGHT & Mc WALL In Recorders Court Feby 12th 1877. Complaint filed by Patrick WHELAN charging defendants with being guilty of keeping a disorderly house in violation of city ordinance. And now defendants being brought before the court announced themselves ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when they were adjudged guilty by the court and it was ordered that Alice WRIGHT be fined twenty-five dollars and all costs, and that Mc WALL be fined fifteen dollars and all costs and that they stand committed until said fines and costs are paid. (NOTE: Written next to list of Alice WRIGHT's fines: Fine and costs remitted on condition that she would remove from city. McWALL paid $22.00 of the total $24.00 due.) Complaint filed by Geo WALTON charging defendant with being guilty of disturbing a religious meeting assembled for worship on Feby 11th 1877. Whereupon the evidence was heard when he was adjudged guilty by the court and it was ordered that he be fined one dollars and all costs in this behalf and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Complaint filed by Nancy WILE charging defendant with being guilty of the unlawful bearing of fire arms and using obscene and and (sic) vulgar language in violation of city ordinance on Feby 9th 1877. And now the def being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when it was considered by the court that the charge was not sustained therefore the defendant was discharged to go hence without day. No. 181 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Pancho RAMIREZ In Recorders Court Feby 13th 1877. Complaint filed by Thomas BASQUES charging defendant with being guilty of discharging fire arms in the corporate limits in another place then on the East side of Water Street, on Feby 13th 1877. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged when it was ordered by the court that the be fined five dollars and all costs in this behalf. And that in consideration of his ignorance of the law and the place of shooting being an out of the way place and his good character and behavior heretofore, four dollars of the fine was remitted. Page 364 No. 182 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Brual LA CONN & Piso LUIS (Note: Also spelled Brue LA COUS and Pise LOUIS) In Recorders Court Feby 13th 1877. Complaint filed by Thomas BASQUES charging defendants with being guilty of discharging fire arms within the corporate limits of the city in violation of city ordinance in such case made & provided on Feby 13th 1877. And now the defendants being brought before the court announced themselves ready for trial and plead guilty as charged. When it was ordered by the Court that they each be fined five dollars and all costs in this behalf and that they stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. No. 183 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Wm DAVIS In Recorders Court Feby 14, 1877. Complaint filed by Wm OHLER charging defendant with being guilty of furious driving in the streets on Feby 14th 1877. And now defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when he was adjudged guilty by the court and it was ordered that he be fined $5.00 and all costs in this behalf and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Page 365 No. 184 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Gabe GREEN In Recorders Court Feby 14th 1877. Complaint filed by Wm OHLER charging defendant with being guilty of furious driving in the streets, on Feby 14th 1877. No. 185 - The City of Corpus Christi vs Florencio RIVERA In Recorders Court Feby 19th 1877. Complaint filed by Tomareta POLANCA charging defendant with committing an assault & batery (sic) on the person of affiant in violation of city ordinance in such case made provided. And now defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard. When he was adjudged guilty by the court and his punishment assessed at $10 dollars and all costs in this behalf and it was ordered that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Page 366 No. 186 - City of Corpus Christi vs Wm LUNDERGARD (LUNDERGAN) In Recorders Court Feby 20. Complaint filed by Felipie ROCHE charging defendant with being guilty of drunkeness and disorderly conduct on Feby 20th 1877. And now defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged. When it was ordered by the court that he be fined five dollars and all costs in this behalf and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. No. 187 - City of Corpus Christi vs Ponciano FLOREZ In Recorders Court Feby 22nd 1877. Complaint filed by Wm OHLER charging defendant with being guilty of drunkeness and incapibility, in violation of city ordinance in such case made and provided on Feby 21st 1877. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged when it was ordered by the court that he be fined five dollars and all costs in this behalf and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. Page 367 No. 188 - The City of Corpus Christi vs R. HOLLUB In Recorders Court Feby 24th 1877. Complaint filed by P. WHELAN, City Marshal, charging defendant with being guilty of disorderly conduct on Feby 23rd A.D. 1877. And now the defendant being brought before the court announced himself ready for trial and plead guilty as charged. When it was ordered by the court that he be fined five dollars and all costs in this this (sic) behalf and that he stand committed to custody of City Marshal until said fine and costs are paid. On motion the costs were remitted. No. 189 - The City of Corpus Christi vs William DE RYU (DE RYEE) In Recorders Court Feby 23rd 1877. Complaint filed by P. WHELAN charging defendant with being guilty of disorderly conduct by the use of abusive language to R. HOLLUB. And now the defendant being brought before the court and asked to plead, whereupon he refused so to do when the plea of not guilty was entered and the case continued to tomorrow morning. Feby 24. Defendant made affidavit that he believed he could not get justice in the Recorders Court, thereupon the case was continued to Feby 26 to be tried by his Hon. the Mayor, and afterwards to wit on the 26 of Feby the defendant was brought before the Mayor for trial. And announced himself ready and demanded a jury whereupon a venue was issued for six good and lawful men to serve as jurors in said case. When the following named jurors were duly empaneled and sworn: Thos PARKER SR., F. G. MUELING, P. BENSON, James STEPHENSON, H. KELLER, and H. MUELY Tthe complaint being read, to which defendant plead not guilty. Whereupon the evidence was heard when the Jury retired to consider of their verdict. And afterwards to wit Page 368 on same day returned into court the following verdict: We the Jury find the Defendant not guilty as charged. (signed) Peter BENSON, Foreman. Therefore, the defendant was discharged and it was ordered that he go hence without day.
