Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Steve Bolton officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3. Dorris was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Corpus Christi, to Ike and Erma Bolton, longtime Waco residents. She grew up in Waco and attended East Waco school. She also attended Preston Street Christian Church and taught Sunday school as a teenager. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was truly a kindred spirit to everyone in her life. She was involved in numerous community and fraternal groups such as the Rebekah, Pocahontas and Pithian groups. She had many hobbies and found great enjoyment in collecting innumerable antiques, jewelry and playing bingo. Her most recent enjoyment had been her time spent at church. She was a devoted member of First Apostolic Church in Waco. It was in her faith that she found the courage to deal with the many trials and tribulations in recent years. Dorris was a woman of many accomplishments. However, her greatest accomplishment and the one that certainly meant the most to her was her family. On Aug. 16, 1954, she married her best friend and the love of her life, Cecil Alexander. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and the very best grandmother and great-grandmother that anyone could ask for. She was truly happy when surrounded by her family and numerous friends. She will always be remembered as a fiercely loyal wife, mother, mamaw and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Erma Bolton; brother, Richard Bolton; brother-in-law, Hike Roberts; and sister-in-law, Glenda Bolton. She is survived by her ever faithful husband, Cecil Alexander; sons, Mark Alexander and wife, Susan and Keith Alexander and wife, Frances; granddaughters, Jennifer Owens and husband, Steven, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Lance and Tiffany Alexander of Arlington; grandsons, Mark Alexander and Michael Alexander; great-grandson, Braden Owens; great-granddaughter, Cora Owens; sister, Joyce Webb; brother, Larry Steve Bolton and wife, Shirley of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and a host of friends that she considered part of her family. Pallbearers will be Mark Alexander Jr., Michael Alexander, Steven Owens, Lance Johnson, John Killough and Rick Eaton. Dorris and her family wish to thank the doctors and staff of Waco West Kidney Center, third floor north at Providence Hospital, St. Catherine's and Providence Hospice. We also wish to thank them all for making our family feel like a part of their family.
