Weeks was accidentally killed while moving a large safe. He had the safe in the wagon and was standing in front with a scantling to prevent the safe from running forward when the weight of the safe made the front wheels of the wagon sink into soft mud and the safe came upon him with a rush, striking him on the head and crushing his skull. Mr. Weeks was knocked out of the wagon and the safe fell upon his arm, pinioning him to the ground. Bystanders came to his rescue, but his injuries proved fatal about an hour after the accident. The deceased was a member of the American Legion of Honor and Knights of Pythias. He was a most estimable citizen, and leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his Loss.
