HOUSTON, TEX., September 17. - At Corpus Christi, George Gould, an old
citizen, who came to Texas with General Taylor's army in 1846, went to kindle
a fire by pouring kerosene from a can, which exploded. Gould was enveloped in
flames and fatally burned. He died next morning, much regretted.
