All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** 15 June 1906 Dallas (TX) Morning News, p. 9 Corpus Christi, Tex., June 14 - John Benjamin Hardwicke enjoyed a surf bath with his wife and children this morning and as he mounted the steps from the water to the natatorium chute landing was seized by apoplexy and fell backward dead. The funeral took place this evening. He was The News correspondent and published the Texas Sun here for the past fourteen years. In years past he was associated with the Waxahachie Mirror, Luling Signal and various papers in Texas, Missouri and Tennessee. Mr. Hardwicke was born in Fayetteville, N. C., Sept. 6, 1865. He is survived by a wife and two little sons and his mother in Corpus Christi. S. P. and A. S. Hardwicke of Abilene are his brothers. Mrs. Percy V. Pennybacker of Austin and Mrs. T. T. Holloway of Dallas are his sisters.
