CARLSBAD Sara Martinez, 87 Sara Martinez, 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 
2008. She was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sara will be 
remembered for her love of animals and flowers, her wonderful garden, mariachi 
music, and watching 'las novelas'. Her daily activities included, visiting with 
her neighbors and spending time in prayer. She was always ready to help others. 
She was very giving and loving and donated to organizations who did God's work. 
She will be remembered for her great laugh, her sense of humor, and her 'diva' 
style. She was best known for her Lucille Ball flaming red hair and for her 
perfume collection. She loved "Dancing With Stars" and watching movies at home. 
Her family, daughter Lupe, Narone, Petunia, and La Negra, will continue to feel 
her loving presence when they enjoy time in her garden. She will be missed, but 
her loving spirit will always remain with us. She is survived by her daughter, 
Lupe Martinez of Carlsbad, and preceded in death her her husband, Clemente 
Martinez A viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m., and a rosary will be said at 7 
p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside. A Mass 
will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at St. Patrick's Church in 
Carlsbad. Flowers can be sent to Eternal Hills.
