Victoria Postmaster, Leopold Morris, Dies

VICTORIA, Nov. 13 Leopold Morris, 69, Victoria's postmaster, former member of 
the Texas Legislature, and one-time candidate for governor of Texas, died here
late last night of a heart attack. He had been in poor health for the
past year.

Morris, up to the day of his death, had been a fighter for civic, highway, and 
all types of improvements for Victoria County, Yesterday he fired a blast at 
the railroads for their action in cutting off train service to Victoria, Alice,
and other points.

Born in Corpus Christi, Morris came to Victoria as a young man, and from 1902 
to 1934 was editor of the Victoria Advocate.
