Mimms, retired teacher and coach who wrote the words to the alma mater of Texas A & M, was found dead at his home here Thursday. He was about 66 and apparently died from natural causes. Mimms lived alone. He graduated from A & M in 1925. Mimms formerly taught science at Aransas Pass and was teacher and coach in a number of schools. He wrote Texas A & M's alma mater, "The Spirit of Aggieland," during summer vacation of his junior year and submitted it to Col. Richard J. Dunn, who was then band director. Dunn wrote the music. Mimms is survived by a sister, Mrs. Walter Fischer of Marlin. Graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery at Marlin 10 a.m. Saturday, with Adams Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
