CAVAZOS Birth: Jan. 25, 1924; Corpus Christi; Nueces County; Texas, USA Death: Jul. 2, 2007; Corpus Christi; Nueces County; Texas, USA Pablo Pena Cavazos was 83 years old at the time of his death. He died at home surrounded by loved ones. In February 2007 he was diagnosed wtih aggressive lung cancer. Before this, he lived a very healthy life. He was in full mental capacity until his death. He is sadly missed by his wife and family. He is proceded in death by his grandson David Salamon Jimenez, Jr., his brothers Vicente Cavazos (d. 1995) and Domingo Cavazos (d. 1984), and his sister Flora Ceballos (d. 1995). Also preceded in death by his parents, Jose G. and Manuela P. Cavazos. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Gloria Cavazos. Also survived by his daughter Esther (David) Jimenez; his sister Antonia (Fernando) Arriaga; a grandson Michael Paul Jimenez; a great-grand daughter Desiree Marie Jimenez; He was discharged from the Army in 1942. He served in WWII as a truck driver stationed in London, England. He worked for Lone Star Distributing Company for 15 years. After, he operated as an independent welder. He entertained family and friends with his many jokes and stories. His favorite past time was performing card tricks and playing Solitaire. He was a master at fixing anything with an engine or motor. He never encounter anything he couldn't fixed. In his later years, he enjoyed visiting second hand stores with his wife and bought old watches, electronics and lawn mowers to fix and re- sell. Interment held at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Vicente Cavazos, Jr., Joe Simon Cavazos, Paul William Cavazos, Steve Cavazos, Michael Jimenez, and Gabriel Hernandez. Additional Comments: His grandparents, Gregorio & Francisca M. Cavazos emigrated to the United States in 1914 from Mexico. They settled in the Port Lavaca/Victoria area. Both his parents are buried in Victori, TX at Cemetery #1 - Catholic Cemetery. SISTERS: Florinda (Flora) Cavazos-Ceballos (d. 1995); Antonia Cavazos-Arriaga. BROTHERS: Domingo P. Cavazos (d. 1984); Vicente P. Cavazos (d. 1995) At the times of his death, only Antonia Cavazos-Arriaga was alive and living in Corpus Christi, TX.
