E. Joseph Tanner officiating. Mr. Woodrow Armstead was born June 12, 1919 to Mrs. Mable James Armstead & Mr. Monroe Armstead in Marlin, Texas. He attended Reagan High School, at an early age he united with Bowman Chapel Methodist Church. Upon moving to Corpus Christi he united with St. Paul United Methodist Church & remained faithful & loyal until he became ill. He was a veteran of World War II. He united in marriage to Mrs. Bessie Lemon Armstead. He departed this life Sunday April 27, 1980. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bessie M. Armstead of Corpus Christi; 1 sister, Mrs. Sadie Lou Johnson of Marlin, Texas; 2 brothers, Mr. Murray Armstead of Corpus Christi; Mr. Ruben Armstead of Dallas, Texas; 1 step-son, Mr. Wilbert C. Powell of Houston, Texas; 1 step-granddaughter, Catherine Kirkendol (Kuykendall) of San Francisco, California; 1 uncle, Mr. Charlie James of Corpus Christi, Texas, & a host of other relatives & many, many friends. Arrangements were made by Jackson-Flowers Funeral Home. Interment is at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Honorary Casket Bearer was Mr. Marshall Johnson & Stewards. Active Casket Bearers were Clarence Johnson, Wallace A. Potts. George Goode, Haywood Veal, Thomas Lusk, & Charlie James.
