Rev. E. Joseph Tanner was officiating. Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the service. On March 29th in the early 1900s, a girl child was born to the union of the late Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Kuykendall in Hallettsville, Texas. They named her Juanita. She accepted Jesus Christ as a personal Savior at an early age. She married Hershey Ashford on October 30, 1952 & he departed this life on July 21, 1965. She united with the Temple of Nimrods #4176 South Vernon, Los Angeles, California. She was ordained a minister by Rev. Bishop Minking. She was a loyal & faithful member; she sang in the choir, led devotion, was an arduous Sunday School leader & often preached in the morning service on Sunday. She served faithfully under Bishop Savannah Wridding. She moved to Corpus Christi in the summer of 1982 & immediately united with St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served faithfully until her death. During her years at St. Paul, she was a member of women’s Sunday School class; a member of the weekly Upper Room Prayer League, & the United Methodist Women’s Organization. The Lord called her from the ranks of the church militant to the church triumphant on Wednesday December 9th, 1987. She leaves to mourn her passing, an auntie, Mrs. Fannie Davis; & a host of other close kindred & friends.
