What a friend is my dear mother,
Sitting in her old arm chair,
As I'm kneeling here beside her,
With my hand upon her hair,
How we love you darling Mother,
As your head grows white as snow,
For you'll always love us Mother,
Makes no difference where we go,
If you are gone beyond the shadows,
Oh your memorie is so sweet;
We can picture you dear Mother,
At your blessed Savior's feet,
And we will remember Mother,
What you taught us tho you are gone,
And we will meet you, darling Mother,
We will meet you one by one.
