The land for the Graford cemetery was deeded to the city by the Bevers
family, whose plot is enclosed by native rock fence on the east side of
the cemetery.  It is believed that there are 14 graves inside this fence. 
My husband and I cut out the briars and cedar trees in 1988 and 
removed 5 pick up loads of brush.


                        Bevers Cemetery 

Starting at the North East corner of the said plot is an unmarked
grave known in local lore to be that of
1.  Ben Carothers, about 17 years old and killed by Indians in the 
    1850's.

2.  Bevers child, marker completely destroyed

3.  Mary Jane Bevers, Jan. 7, 1869, 
    infant dau. of  Houston and Aurilla Bevers
 
4.  Frances Cornelia Bevers 12-11-1863 to July 1871
 
5.  Laura Ann Bevers 2-27-1848 to 10-30-1862
6.  George Bevers Jr. 1-26-1852 to 12-1-1862 
     (these two children died of whooping cough)
 
7.  George Rice Bevers 8-29-1825 to 10-14-1904
 
8.  Lucinda Jane (Tacker) Bevers 1-8-1825 to 11-29-1873
     wife of George R. Bevers

9.  (Samuel) Houston Bevers 11-14-1846 to 11-26-1924
 
10.  Aurilla Jane (Taylor) Bevers 2-20-1850 to 11-6-1939
       wife of Houston Bevers

11.  Edwin H. Bevers 4-28-1876 to 12-23-1908 son of
       Houston and Aurilla Bevers.

12.  Jim Houston Johnson 10-17-1906 to 12-23-1908
 
13.  Irene June Yarbrough Jones Bevers 9-28-1886 to 2-12-1964
       wife of Quinton Rice Bevers
 
14.  Marie Bevers 8-10-1906 to 11-21-1908 daughter of Irene Bevers.

NOTE: George Rice Bevers and Aurilla Eliza Jane Taylor Bevers were my 
 ggggparents.
