About 1851 she moved with her parents, James M. and Martha Jackson Woodyard, and siblings to Russell County, Alabama. Here on December 18, 1866 she married Alfred Thadius Perry. He was born December 11, 1839 in Alabama and died August 15, 1912 in Panola County, Texas. He was a veteran of the Confederate Army. In the 1870 census of Union Springs, Bullock County, Alabama, Alfred is recorded as a farmer, age 30 and Mary as age 25. In January 1875 they moved to Texas. On August 9, 1909 their residence was in Shelby County, Tex. Both are buried in the Carthage City Cemetery, Carthage, Panola County. They had ond adopted daughter, Mattie Grandy. She married James Brooks and had eight children.
