All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************** Stokes Clark, well known in Weatherford, as a result of his trouble with Ranger Home White, whom he killed here 4 February 1908, was shot and instantly killed in Oklahoma City Saturday as the result of a drunken quarrel. The same shot that killed Clark hit and fatally injured Mart Bannon, having been fired from an automatic shotgun at close range. Lige Gable, who fired the shot, is in jail at Okahoma City. The killed occurred at a resort kept by Nettie Keifer at 129 West Washington Avenue, after Clark and Bannon had entered the house by breaking a glass door and turning the latch. Another man, who went to the house with the two men was arrested and placed in the city jail. Clark, it will be remembered by many killed Ranger Homer White in Weatherford, 4 February 1908, after some trouble over a woman. H ewas cleared on his third trial.
