John Hamilton of the Christian church, residing on Patrick's creek valley prairie. Early in 1863, when a short distance from home, some of the fellows sustained in laziness, idleness, debauchery and all sorts of criminal practices, by the government of the United States came upon them suddenly and pierced them with many arrows. They were both scalped; and Stewart, the youngest son, had one of his ears cut off with a portion of the head. Pheraps these "recievers" wanted more ears to hear the call to come for more aid from the national authorities. The Weekly Herald Weatherford, Texas Thursday evening - May 25, 1911
