McKenzie, Esq., or ÒUncle Bob,Ó as he was familiarly called by everyone, died at his home Wednesday afternoon at 4:45, after an illness of only a little over a day. The immedicate cause of his death was heart failure, brought on by an acute attack of indigestion. ÒUncle BobÓ came to his office as usual Tuesday morning and spent most of his time in Judge StennisÕ office. Several times he complained of a peculiar pain in his breast, and finally arose to go home. As he did so, he staggered and sank back into his chair and asked for a physician. Judge Stennis and Treasurer Bunch were present and assisted him and telephoned for a physician. He was taken home in a buggy and by Wednesday morning appeared to be in a fair way to recover. In the afternoon he began to sink rapidly and soon passed peacefully away. Mr. McKenzie came to Weatherford in 1858 to enter the practice of law. During his prime he was one of the foremost lawyers of this section and was very active, even up to his late illness. He was a member of the first Christian church organized in Weatehrford, and was a man of many noble traits of character. Deceased leaves a brother, two sisters and a son and hosts of friends to mourn his loss. The Plain Texan and Weatherford Democrat February 9 1906
