From the best information The Enquirer can gather, Will Rivers had been putting out poison to kill wolves and on Friday he and his wife, her sister and a young man, named Kyle were in the pasture hunting the wolf scalps. Bid Froman had found his dog dead and was incensed about it. He armed himself with a shot gun and in company with two friends, Messrs. Charley Carr and Mr. Rogers, started across Rivers' pasture to Rivers' house. He came upon Rivers in the pasture and thus accosted him. Froman emptied both barrels of his gun into Rivers' breast, over 50 buckshot taking effect. Rivers dropped to his knees and fired twice with a pistol, the f irst shot in the head and the other near the center of the breast. Froman expired instantly, while Rivers lived about two hours. [Willow Springs cemetery shows a Alex S. Froman who died 27 November 1891 which must be "Bid" Froman He seems to be buried beside an infant son who died 9 April 1886 and infant daughter, Bettie, died July 1885. Census records show the Froman family was parents of six daughters. Probate records seem to indicate that Will Rivers or William Rivers was the son of Charles Rivers, dec'd 1872 killed by Indians and Mrs. Martha S. Williams. Charles Rivers was the husband of Susan Mary Loving. Will Rivers is buried in the Greenwood cemetery in Weatherford near Charles E. Rivers and the Loving family.]
