Name on headstone: McHATTON, James Denny; b. 18 Jun 1836 in Louisville, Jefferson CO., KY; d. 07 Jun 1917 in Springtown, Parker, CO., TX. Wife (2nd) Louisa Mallory, b. 1855, d. 30 Jun 1939 in Azle, Parker CO., TX. Additional Comments: James Denny McHatton first married Francis Drucilla Hutchins in Henderson, Henderson Co., KY, on 28 Nov 1866 and by her had three sons: James H McHatton, 19 Feb 1868; William Allen McHatton, 1870; and Nobel McHatton, 09 Oct 1872. He appears to have divorced/abandoned his family and arrives in Parker Co., TX, in 1871, where he married Lou (Jane) Mallery in 1875 and by her had four children: John Douglas McHatton, 11 Oct 1878 - 05 Apr 1969; Alexander McHatton, b. 1879' Joaney McHatton, b. abt Apr 1880; and Laura McHatton, b. Jan 1889. His first wife, Francis Durcilla Hutchins married James D Sheffer in Henderson, Henderson Co., KY, on 01 Sep 1875, and by him had two sons: George Sheffer, b. abt 1877; and Leonard "Lenny" Sheffer, b. abt 1878. According to his Confederate Pension Application/Records (Texas), filed 04 Aug 1899, he lived in Parker Co., TX, since 1871. He is buried in Springtown Cemetery, Parker Co., TX. He stated he served from 1861 to 1865 in the C.S.A. Responses to court ordered interrogatories regarding the CSA Pension application by C. P. Allen of Loulisville, Jefferson Co., KY, state that he, Allen, and James Denny McHatton, "...served together in the same regiment six months....left here 21st day of April 1861 and went South...". Louisville, KY, 1859 City Directory lists McHatton, James, mason, has Green bet 7th & 8th . Also lists McHatton, James, Jr, tinner, has Green bet 7th & 8th, and McHatton, Alexander, mason, has Green bet 7th & 8th. Appears to have relocated to Parker County, Texas, between 1870 and 1880. A J. McHatton, appears in Weatherford, Parker Co., Texas, in 1880 Census, listing his occupation as "Tinner".
