Mrs. Gaines was born in Gainesville and had been a Borger resident since 1944, moving from Lubbock. She did domestic service for Mark and Dorothy Fahle. She married Walter Gaines in 1961 at Ardmore, Okla. He died in 1971. Survivors include two sons, Walter Gaines Jr. of Wisconsin and John Gaines of Borger; two daughters, Mary Gaines and Martha Gaines, both of Borger; a brother, Leon Sanders of Gainesville; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Carl Schulte HAPPY - Carl Schulte, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996, at Canyon. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel at Canyon by the Rev. Mario Stortz. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church of Happy and the Holy Name Society for many years. He married Clara Irlbeck in 1936 at Happy. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rose Margaret Braddock of Levelland and Teresa Lemons of Lubbock; a son, David Joseph Schulte of Happy; two sisters, Mildred Boessen of Estero, Fla., and Ruby Buschjost of Eugene; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Norma Lee McBee LEFORS - Norma Lee McBee, 69, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Heights Cemetery with the Rev. Mrs. McBee was a lifelong resident of Lefors before moving to Borger two years ago. She married William Delmas "Bill" McBee Jr. in 1946 at Lefors. He died in 1994. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service at Lefors for more than 30 years. She was a clerk and served as postmaster for 22 of those years. She retired in 1989. She was a member of the McLean Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church of Lefors. Survivors include a son, Billy McBee of Lefors; a sister, Bobbye Fraizer of Mason; a brother, Tommy Hedrick of Borger; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1954 from Arizona. He worked in the irrigation business and was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. He married Eulalia Resendez in 1954 at Hereford. Lorenzo Clinton Richburg MEMPHIS - Lorenzo Clinton Richburg, 85, of Paris, Ark., a former Memphis resident, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996. Mr. Richburg was born in Hulver. He lived most of his life in Hall County until 1967 when he moved to Paris, Ark. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ilva, in 1988 and a son, J. Kenneth Richburg, in 1940. He married Hilda Arnold in 1988 at Fort Smith, Ark. She worked at the Collingsworth County office of Panhandle Community Action from 1970 until retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Titus was born in Flomot. He married Nannie Alma Pritchett in 1937 at Glenwood, Ark. He farmed in the Flomot area until 1949. He owned and operated farms around Plainview, Kress and Lockney until retiring in 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sandra Crawford of Floydada; a son, Leroy Titus of Grapevine; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Oma Lee Welch CLARENDON - Oma Lee Welch, 73, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Welch was born in Big Spring and raised in El Paso. She was a resident of Memphis before moving to Clarendon in 1951. She married Eugene "Gene" Welch in 1939 at Las Cruces, N.M. He died in 1993. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Lester Welch in 1963 and Gerald Welch in 1989. She was a clerk at Parker-Perkins Variety Store for several years and was the food service supervisor at Medical Center Nursing Home for 16 years before retiring. She was a certified food service supervisor and a member of the state and national Dietary Management Association, serving as president of both for six years. She taught in the Train The Trainer program and authored several papers on modified diets, focusing on diabetic diets and exchanges. She was a member of the Clarendon Rebekah Lodge and First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school at many levels and was active in WMU and other church organizations. Survivors include five daughters, Jeannie Formway of Clarendon, Linda Welch of Wichita Falls, Shirley Ann Burton of Spearman, Rosie Sommerfield of Canyon and Tonie Welch of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Beth Mozell Clausen Beth Mozell Clausen, 62, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996. Services and burial were at 3 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Almaroad officiating. She lived in Muskogee, Okla., for five years before moving to Amarillo. She was a housekeeper and a member of Mescalero Baptist Church. Thomas Julian Stell Thomas Julian Stell, 69, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Stell was born in Konawa, Okla. He was a resident of Dumas for 20 years before moving to Amarillo 26 years ago. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of ASARCO. He also was a member of Caprock Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Pauline Stell, in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Stell; a daughter, Gail Brewer of Dumas; a son, Dennis Stell of Amarillo; four stepsons, Jim Stokes of Canyon, and Phil Stokes, Stacey Stokes and Keith Stokes, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Era Tindall of Odessa and Betty Allen of Adona, Ark.; a brother, Rev. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Jones was born in Emory and had lived in Amarillo for 40 years. She married George Jones in 1956. He died in 1992. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Fitzhugh, in 1980. She was a beautician and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Russell was born in Amarillo and had been a lifetime resident here. She was an accomplished musician, a community volunteer and a self-employed caterer. She was secretary of the Amarillo Catholic High School PTA and a member of the HOSTS program at Eastridge Elementary School. She also helped establish the Amarillo Montessori Academy. She was active in the Amarillo Museum of Art, where she served on the collections committee and was a docent and the cookbook chairman. She was a member of Law Wives and the Junior League of Amarillo and also was active in the Democratic Party Womenıs Organization. She was a member of St. Andrewıs Episcopal Church. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Russell, in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Joshua Russell and Hugh Russell, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Susan Underwood Seward of Concord, Mass., and Lesley Underwood of California; and a grandchild. He was a mechanic for Volkswagen in Amarillo for 25 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for 33 years. Survivors include five sons, Alfred Lovato, Ernesto Arias, Henry Arias, Raymond Arias and Ruben Arias, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Yolanda Oropeza of Deerfield, Kan.; and 13 grandchildren. Canyon Pearl Liesmann Sparling Copp Pearl Liesmann Sparling Copp, 93, of Canyon, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Charles Price, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens at St. Louis. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home Inc. Mrs. Copp was born in St. Louis. She was an accountant and bookkeeper for Viking Freight Co. in St. Louis for many years. She was a Baptist and taught Sunday school for 70 consecutive years. She was a member of Victory Voices and Canyon Womenıs Book Club. She also was a devotional teacher at Golden Plains Care Center and wrote a column, "Pearls of Wisdom," for an Amarillo Christian newspaper. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry R. Sparling II, in 1954; and her second husband and a son, Harry R. Sparling III, both in 1985. She moved to Canyon in 1985. Survivors include a son, Dr. Russell Sparling of Canyon; five grandsons; four great-grandsons; and three great-granddaughters. The family will be at 93 Jynteewood in Canyon. Oklahoma Anetta Yvonne Hintergardt GUYMON, Okla. - Anetta Yvonne Hintergardt, 62, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sunset Lane Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Riddles officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Hintergardt was born in Vici. She attended school at Woodward until 1946, when she moved to Guymon with her family. She also attended school in Guymon. She was a waitress at local cafes and also worked at the old Guymon Laundry. She worked in the bakery at the Ideal Food Store before working at Dunaway Manor. She worked at the manor from 1982 until retiring in 1988. She married A.G. "Red" Hintergardt in 1962 at Hooker. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a son, Kenny. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Tarver of Guymon and Julia Brown of Woodward; five sons, Johnny Smith of Victoria, Texas, Bill Smith, Jim Smith, and Floyd Hintergardt, all of Guymon, and George Hintergardt of Fairfax; four sisters, Pauline Rainwater of Guymon, Viola Porter and Gracie Castor, both of Woodward, and Pat Pits of Garden City, Kan.; and 15 grandchildren. Willa Ruth David KEYES, Okla. - Willa Ruth David, 95, a Cimarron County pioneer, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996, at Guymon. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Keyes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Del Watkins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willowbar Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mrs. David was born in Montague County, Texas. She pioneered with her family to the Oklahoma Panhandle from Marathon, Texas, in 1914, and homesteaded northeast of what is now Keyes. She graduated from Panhandle Agricultural Institute at Goodwell in 1931. She taught in several country schools in Cimarron County. She married Charles Franklin David in 1934 at Keyes. They farmed in the Keyes area. Her husband died in 1982. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Vera Faye David and Myoma David, both in 1945. Survivors include two sons, Everett Neil David of Winlock, Wash., and C.F. David of Dumas, Texas; a sister, Lorena Harryman of Keyes; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Willa David Memorial has been established for the OPSU Foundation. The donations will be designated to the Frank and Willa David Scholarship at the college. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Texhoma United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dyton Owen officiating. Burial will be in the Texhoma, Texas, Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Hass was born in Cedar County, Mo., and moved to Texhoma shortly after that. She married Jesse Louis Hass in 1945 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1986. Survivors include a sister, Mary Kennedy of Moore. New Mexico Burnnard H. Loflin CLOVIS, N.M. - Burnnard H. Loflin, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of God with the Rev. Kelvin Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mr. Loflin was born in Portales and was a lifelong resident of Clovis. He was a barber and owned the Clovis Hotel Barbershop. He also had worked at Village Barbershop. He was a member of the Clovis Church of God and the American Legion Post No. 25. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Laura Jaquess in 1945 at Fort Sumner. Survivors include his wife; a son, Howard Loflin of Clovis; a daughter, Collene Baldwin of Clovis; a brother, J.L. Loflin of Lubbock, Texas; four sisters, Mary Gross of Lubbock, Julia Seavers of Sparks, Nev., Nettie Simington of California, and Dorothy; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Asplof was born in Seattle. He lived in Amarillo for several years and worked at Meadıs Bakery. He had lived in San Antonio for 35 years. He was a truck driver and had worked for Mrs. Bairdıs Bakery for eight years. He was an Army sergeant and served during World War II. He was a member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Asplof, in 1995, and a son, Perry Asplof, in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Marie Hurst Asplof; four daughters, Dawn Wollney, Patricia Titus, Paula Williams and Pamela Jackson, all of San Antonio; three sons, Paul Ricky Asplof, Charles "Chuck" Asplof and Johnny Asplof, all of Amarillo; 34 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
