Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anneıs Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Mares was born in Tucumcari and had been a lifetime Tucumcari resident. He retired as a plumber and carpenter. He was a member of St. Anneıs Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Y. Mares of Tucumcari and Nora Murguis of Amarillo; three brothers, Ambrose Mares Sr. of San Francisco, and Larence Mares and Ambrose Mares Jr., both of Tucumcari; a sister, Nora Maestas of Belen; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home from Saturday morning until 10 a.m. Monday. Jesse J. Rierson CLOVIS, N.M. - Jesse J. Rierson, 94, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Highland Baptist Church with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will be in Hollene Cemetery at Hollene by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mr. Rierson was born in Knox County, Texas. He married Callie Mae Miller in 1923. He had farmed in the Hollene and Grady communities. In 1953, he moved to Clovis and worked for Worley Mills and Houston Lumber Co. He later worked as a custodian for Gattis Junior High School and Clovis High School. After he retired from the Clovis school system, he worked as a custodian for Highland Baptist Church, where he was a member. He was also a member of the Clovis Oneıs Club and Clovis Senior Citizens. Survivors include five daughters, Coy Fryar of Hereford, Texas, Wilma Peaslee and Loretta Brock, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Marietta Johnson and Floydeen Roberts, both of Clovis; a brother, Herman Rierson; two sisters, Ada Fitzgerald of Clovis and Nora Belle Darnell of Burbank, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1013 Walnut. Joseph Finis Beevers CLOVIS, N.M. - Joseph Finis Beevers, 94, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996. Masonic services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel by Clovis Masonic Lodge No. 40 AF and AM. Burial will be in Mission Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Beevers was born in Mount Calm, Texas. His parents and grandparents homesteaded in New Mexico territory in 1906, close to what was the town of Forrest. He married Vessie May Price in 1925 and they had lived in the Plainview, Texas, area. They moved to Santa Fe in 1933 and owned and operated Santa Fe Welding and Radiator Service until 1955. He sold out to his sons and bought the Westerner Motel, which is now the Stage Coach. He and his wife operated the motel until her death in 1961. In 1963, he retired and moved to Clovis. He married Anna Cook in 1964; she died in 1966. He then married Leticia Shull in 1968. They were married 23 years until her death in 1991. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a life member of the Santa Fe Masonic, Montezuma Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include two sons, Curtiss Beevers and Marvin Beevers; two brothers, Gus Beevers and Ted Beevers; two sisters, Lennie Thomas and Dorothy Rose; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Curtis T. Cox CLOVIS, N.M. - Curtis T. "Jake" Cox, 63, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996. Rosary will be held prior to memorial services, which will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community with Father Daniel Balizan officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories with military honors by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Cox was born in Baxter, Tenn., and was a lifetime Clovis area resident. He married Cora F. Booney in 1954 at Portales. He was a self-employed refrigeration and air conditioning repairman. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and Hispano Business Council and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. He was currently attending Clovis Community College, majoring in creative writing and computer science. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Christopher T. Cox of Forrest, Thomas A. Cox of Moab, Utah, Myron E. Cox of Clovis, John C. Cox of Portland, Ore., Andrew B. Cox of Honolulu, Hawaii, and James W. Cox of Jal; four daughters, Pamala Schuck, Virginia McReynolds and Cynthia T. Hays, all of Clovis, and Amanda M. Cox of Tularosa; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Martha Valdez Trujillo CLAYTON, N.M. - Martha Valdez Trujillo, 77, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday and mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kuehner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Trujillo was born in Wheeless, Okla. She graduated from Clayton High School. She married Jesus M. Trujillo; he died in 1969. She was a lifelong resident of Clayton. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Francis Xavier Church Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Post 3271. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Pearce was born in Amarillo. He had been plant manager of Salina Skelgas Propane Division of Texaco Oil. He also had owned and operated the Dixie Cream Donut Co. from 1946 until 1955. He was active in the Kansas L.P.G. Association and was a member of Salina Country Club, Salina Y.M.C.A., where he served on the building committee, the Salina Eagles Aerie, Salina Masonic Lodge No. 60 and Isis Shrine and Scottish Rite. Survivors include his wife, Georgia G. Smith Pearce, of the home; three sons, Duane Pearce of Topeka, David Pearce of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dan Pearce of Bossier City, La.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Troy Jaynes Badgett HORSESHOE BAY - Troy Jaynes Badgett, 66, died Wednesday, Dec. 4 1996. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Protestant Church. Mr. Badgett graduated from North Texas University. He was a lifetime member of the Professional Golf Association and worked as a club pro at Amarillo County Club from 1961 until 1988. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed bird hunting, bass fishing and golf. Survivors include his wife, Martha Badgett, of Horseshoe Bay; two daughters, Barbara Austin of Austin and Becky Badgett of San Antonio; a son, Brad Badgett of Austin; and a brother, Dr. Robert Allison of Dallas. The family requests memorials be in lieu of flowers in Mr. Badgettıs name to a favorite charity. Oklahoma James Herbert Oren ERICK, Okla. - James Herbert Oren, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Erick United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilynn Schellhamer officiating. Burial will be in Erick Cemetery by Fatheree-Albert Funeral Service. Mr. Oren was born southwest of Erick. He attended Dabney School, Erick High School and Oklahoma A&M College. He married Lorene Stone in 1937. They had lived near Big Brushy Creek, southwest of Erick. He enjoyed ranching and farming. He farmed on his ranch and in partnership with his father on the Oren family farm. He retired in 1980 and moved to Erick. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Moss of Amarillo and Barbara Oren and Mona Oren, both of Erick; five sons, John Oren of Arlington, Texas, and James Oren, Stone Oren, Charlie Oren and Kenneth Oren, all of Erick; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Mitchell was born in Wellington and moved to Fritch in 1979 from Amarillo. He married Evelyn Carlene Dickey in 1953 at Clovis, N.M. He had worked for Cain Coffee for more than 26 years before retiring in 1992. He had served as a reserve deputy for Potter County and Moore County Sheriffıs Departments and the City of Fritch Police Department for more than 25 years. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ruben Herrera in 1982 and Frank Herrera in 1987. She retired in 1974 and moved to Plainview in 1978. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Newby, in 1973, and a son, Carlos Newby, in January. Koenig, in 1985; and his wife, Vivian G. Koenig, in 1988. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ramona Maurine Brown, in 1983. She attended St. Maryıs Elementary School and High School at Grand Island, St. Francis School of Nursing and Duchesne College at Omaha, Neb., and the University of Texas. She completed her masters of science in nursing and was a registered nurse, M.S.N. She married Charles "Ed" Parsons in 1966 at St. Maryıs Catholic Church in Amarillo. She established Agape Home Health and Agape Auxiliary Nursing Services in Amarillo and Pampa. She was a member of St. Maryıs Catholic Church, St. Maryıs Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters, Southeastern Nebraska Right to Life and Nebraska Republican Party and was the co-founder of Parents Anonymous at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993 and a son, Mark Edmond Parsons. Survivors include four sons, Matthew C. Parsons and Daniel W. Parsons, both of Nebraska City, Vincent L. Parsons of Conception, Mo., and James M. Parsons, of the home; two daughters, Anna S. Parsons of Bellevue, Neb., and Jeanna M. Parsons of the home; two brothers, Ronald Still of San Antonio and John Still of Fremont, Neb.; two sisters, Jean Piontkowski of Grand Island and Ann Duggan of Denver; and two grandchildren. She was a volunteer for the Amarillo Chapter of the American Red Cross for 50 years.
