Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Peoples was born in Tonkawa, Okla. He grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview schools. He joined the Army in 1943 and served in Europe. He was discharged in 1946. He married Ruth Pierce in 1946 at Plainview. She died in March. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Luke Franklin Peoples and Mark Lee Peoples. After marrying, he lived in Amarillo and drove a truck for Amarillo Hardware. He then moved to Plainview and started Peoples Furniture in 1960. He was still active in that business. In the mid-1970s he also owned and operated Plainview Bus and Transport. He was instrumental in getting the Bob Wills stamp issued. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Ruth Gray of Plainview; three sons, Matthew Earl Peoples of Plainview, Guy Dell Peoples of Alvin and Donnie Ray Peoples of McLoud, Okla.; two sisters, Gay Cherry and Ruth Carter, both of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1404 Houston St. They request memorials be to Family Hospice of Plainview. Julian E. Lenau MULESHOE - Julian E. Lenau, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reydon Stanford of the Christian Center in Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park. Mr. Lenau was born in Hobart, Okla., and had lived in Muleshoe most of his life. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1926 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He later graduated from Baylor University at Waco with a pharmacy degree. He married Lois Koen in 1929 at Olton. She died in 1985. He was the owner and operator of Western Drug in Muleshoe from 1929 to 1944 and then was the owner and operator of the Muleshoe Alfalfa Mill. He also worked for his brother at Lenau Lumber Co. for several years before retiring in 1983. Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Lenau of Columbia, Mo., and Don J. Lenau of Muleshoe; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Eric Matthew Zamora Salazar TURKEY - Eric Matthew Zamora Salazar, infant son of Moses and Elizabeth Salazar, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, in Childress. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Amelia and Moses Salazar Jr., and Delia Guijose; and great-grandparents, Moses Salazar Sr. and Geneva Carrera. Hazel Price MULESHOE - Hazel Price, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with James Walden and Darren Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Price was born in Redwater. She married Dale Ward in 1933. He died in 1979. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Franklin, in 1972. She moved from Plainview to Muleshoe in 1979. She was a homemaker and of the non-denominational faith. She married Clark Price in 1989 at Muleshoe. Survivors include her husband; a son, Johnny Ward of Ropesville; two daughters, Jean Crittenden of Uvalde and Glenda Faye Witherspoon of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, Arvin Satterfield of Texarkana and Walter Satterfield of Watsonville, Calif.; three sisters, Marcille Macinvale and Betty Jo Davidson, both of Richmond, and Odessa Benson of Modesto, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo JOHNSTON Myrtle Beatrice Patterson JohnstonMyrtle Beatrice Patterson Johnston, 82, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. George Nite of San Jacinto Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Johnston was born in Horatio, Ark. She moved to Amarillo from East Texas in 1938. She married J.W. Johnston in 1956 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a stepson, Joe Wayne Johnston of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Forraine Davis and Leone Tatum, both of Amarillo; three sisters, Elsie Swindle and Irene Swindle, both of Pampa, and Ollie Allen of Greenville; and many stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. THORN Sallie Mae Thorn, 94, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Charles Young, pastor of the Church of God, officiating. Additional rites will be by the Daughters of the Nile. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Thorn was born in Van Buren, Ark. She married the Rev. Dennis W. Thorn in 1917 at Van Buren. They moved to Amarillo in 1926. For 67 years she was involved in gospel ministry with her husband in addition to owning and operating Thorn Candy Co. since 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and a son, Charles Thorn, in 1992. She was a past queen of the Daughters of the Nile, a member of the Bonita Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past member of the Zonta Club. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include three daughters, Sallie Mae Barker, Thelma Flamm and Matha Dixon, all of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. MR. MILLER MRS. MILLER Ray Howard Miller Patsy Jean Hommel Miller Ray Howard Miller, 62, and Patsy Jean Hommel Miller, 62, both of Amarillo, died Monday Dec. 23, 1996. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Fellowship Church with Jimmy Evans, senior pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Alanreed Cemetery at Alanreed. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Miller was born in Alanreed and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1950. He had served with the Army. He received a bachelor's degree in secondary education from West Texas State University. He was a rancher and a camp ranger for the Girl Scout Camp. He also had driven a school bus for the Bushland ISD for more than 30 years. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. Mrs. Miller was born in Clarendon and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1950. She had been a bookkeeper for the Texas Plains Girl Scout Council since 1962. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. The Millers were married in 1954 at Amarillo. Mr. Miller's survivors include two sons, David Miller and Mike Miller, both of Amarillo; four sisters, Faye Kunkel of Dumas, Nita Kunkel and Willie Hugg, both of Amarillo, and Eula Mae Vogt of Houston; a brother, John David Miller of Houston; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Miller's survivors include two sons, David and Mike of Amarillo; her mother, Beulah Hommel of Amarillo; a sister, Vondell Grigsby of Albuquerque, N.M.; and four grandchildren. WOOLSEY Muril Cleon Woolsey, 61, of 6600 Plum Creek Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Robert Bennett, pastor of Freedom Baptist Church, and Jim York, of Sunray Church of Christ at Sunray, officiating. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home. Mr. Woolsey was born in Retrop, Okla. He moved to Amarillo in 1951 from Oklahoma. He married Billie June Cooper in 1995 at Amarillo. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Redball Motor Freight for six years and also worked for Oil Transport for 28 years. He was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Laurie Woolsey, Tena Woolsey and Darla McDuff, all of Amarillo; two sons, Mike Woolsey and Danny Woolsey, both of Amarillo; a brother, Loy Woolsey of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends today and Friday afternoon at 2705 S. Roosevelt St. They request memorials be to St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. BRYANT Ruby Ola Bryant, 89, of 3900 Fountain Terrace, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerald of the church and the Rev. Verne Fuqua of Fort Worth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Bryant was born in Ellis County and moved to Amarillo in 1941. She married J.B. Bryant Sr. in 1932 at Marietta, Okla. He died in 1976. She was a homemaker and a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was a life member of the United Methodist Women, Ladies Friendship Class and Wesley Comraders Class. Survivors include three daughters, Nora Pennington of Burleson, Tria Godwin of Canadian and Myrt Wilder of Plainview; three sons, Robert Bryant, Richard Bryant and J.B. Bryant Jr., all of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; 21 grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3900 Fountain Terrace. Elsewhere Edwin Maurice Byrnes AUSTIN - Edwin Maurice Byrnes, 67, a former Amarillo resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin. Arrangements are by Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Byrnes was born in Tulia. He was baptized in First Presbyterian Church of Tulia and later became an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge of Amarillo. He was vice-president and branch manager of the Wolflin Village branch of First Federal Savings and Loan. He also was the owner of several other businesses in Amarillo and Austin. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Lorena Byrnes of Austin; a son, David Edwin Byrnes of Austin; and a sister, Allorah Jo Byrnes of Denver.
