Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Phillip Lindley, of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Woelfle was born in Nazareth. He married Anne J. Gerber in 1930 at Nazareth. He had lived in Amarillo for 48 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 7573 and Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. He was retired from Amarillo Independent School District. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons, Lloyd and Leon. Survivors include seven daughters, Betty Gray, Jean Hill and Helen Detten, all of Amarillo, Leah Harp of Duncanville, Annette Gannon of Tracy, Calif., Juanita Randall of Alamogordo, N.M., and Judy Woelfle of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Joe Woelfle of Sacramento and Mike Woelfle of Pampa; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 706 Browning and requests memorials be to Blessed Sacrament Church or a favorite charity. Ely Kirven Roper Ely Kirven Roper, 52, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996. Private memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Paulıs Methodist Church. The body will be cremated. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mr. Roper was born in Amarillo. He had worked in law enforcement and sales most of his life. He was a Methodist. She retired as a secretary from the city of Amarillo after 20 years of service. She was a member of Southwest Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jim Berryman and Bob Berryman, both of Amarillo, and Steve Berryman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Geneva McNeill of Happy and Myrtis Cattaneo of Canyon; five grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Jewell Scott Long Jewell Scott Long, 82, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996. She was owner of Nelson Street Grocery. She was a Baptist. Elsewhere Dwight Beecher McNamee HIGGINS - Dwight Beecher McNamee, 101, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifford Baze officiating. Burial was in Higgins Cemetery by Mason Funeral Home. Mr. McNamee was born in Merriman, Neb., where he attended elementary school and completed the ninth grade. He moved to Oklahoma and became the depot agent at Quinlan, Okla. He then served in the Army during World War II. He returned to Oklahoma and worked as a depot agent at Harmon, Okla., then Amarillo and Follett for 23 years. He then became a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He carried the route out of Higgins for 23 years, retiring in 1960. He was a member of Higgins Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He married Blanche Vom Hoff in 1938 at Beaver, Okla. Survivors include his wife; and a daughter, Anita Darlene McNamee Childress of Houston. The family requests memorials be to V.A. She received her bachelorıs degree from the University of North Texas at Denton and her masterıs degree from Colorado State University at Greeley, Colo. She married Clarence R. Konkle in 1948 at Amarillo; he died in 1963. She had taught school for the Amarillo Independent School District for 46 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, South Plains Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association and a former member of Kappa Delta Pi and Lubbock Womenıs Study Club. She was a past member of Weinert Home Demonstration Club. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Roberts, and a daughter, Anna Jean King. Mr. Simpson was born in Northfield. He was a graduate for Texas Tech University at Lubbock. He was employed as a soil scientist, superintendent and horticulturist at the Agricultural Division of the Texas Research Foundation at Kenner. He was last employed as a research scientist studying native woody ornamental plants at Texas A&M University Research and Extension Center at Dallas. He had published numerous technical articles and books in this field. Survivors include his mother, Una Simpson of Northfield; a brother, A.B. "Bo" Simpson of Dallas; and two sisters, Wyvonna Bentz of Poteet and Ida Mae Sims of Lubbock. Ruby Spears Thompson MATADOR - Ruby Spears Thompson, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996. Mrs. Thompson was born in Hartshorne, Pittsburg County, Okla., and moved to Motley County in 1926. She graduated from Matador High School in 1929 and worked as a bookkeeper in the family ginning business. She married Manly Thompson in 1940; he died in 1970. They operated the Spears Gin and Thompson Feed and Seed Co. until retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church. "Andy" Nichols in 1950 at Clovis, N.M.; he died in 1984. She had worked as a sales clerk at Bentleyıs and Dunlapıs for many years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Matthewıs Episcopal Church. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce T. Roberts of Pampa; a son, James C. Taylor of Pampa; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to St. Matthewıs Episcopal Church. Lawrence H. Drake TULIA - Lawrence H. Drake, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jessie Hodge, of First United Methodist Church, and Derrick Wade, of Silverthorne, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Drake was born in Beattie, Kan. He moved to Fort Stockton in 1912 and attended school there and Lakeview in 1917. He moved to Kress in 1918, where he also attended school. He then attended Texas Tech University at Lubbock. He married Ellen Osborn in 1935 at Kress; she died in 1989. He was a bridge inspector for the Texas Highway Department for several years. He moved to Tulia in 1935, where he was a carpenter and builder. He was responsible for construction of various residences, churches and commercial buildings throughout Swisher County. He was a member of First Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Annie Beth Wade of Tulia; two sons, Lawrence O. Drake of Amarillo and John R. Drake of Arlington; a sister, Phyllis Frick of Lubbock; two brothers, Francis Drake of San Bernadino, Calif., and Wilson Drake of Altus, Okla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
