Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Dana Moore, pastor, and the Rev. Tommy Ewing of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Slaughter was born in Turkey, Texas, and moved to Amarillo in 1949 from Turkey. He had worked for Asarco for 22 years, retiring in 1997 as an industrial supervisor. He was a past member of United Steel Workers and had been active in the National Guard for 21 years, retiring in 1992. He also was a member of Bykota Baptist Church. He married "Lady Bug'' McLaughlin in 1986 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Danny Wayne Slaughter and Bobby Dale Slaughter, both of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Julie Darlene Pulliam and Storm Wardwell, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Helen Johnson of Fort Worth and Janie Clay of Amarillo; his father, Edward L. Slaughter of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 112 Theresa and requests memorials be to Meals on Wheels or Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Larry Wayne Sutterfield Larry Wayne Sutterfield, 42, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Stratford Church of Christ with David Stites, minister of the Church of Christ in Italy, Texas, and Jon Heatwole, minister of the Stratford Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Sutterfield was born in Hale Center. He was a longtime resident of Sherman County and moved to Amarillo two years ago. He was a truck driver. He was a member of Stratford Church of Christ. He married Cathy Hardeman in 1983 in New Mexico. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Sutterfield of Portland and Matthew Williams of Fort Mead, Md.; two daughters, Sandra Sutterfieldd and Maryssa Sutterfield Beeson, both of Amarillo; his parents, Chuck and June Sutterfield of Stratford; three sisters, Charlotte Malone of Olton, Rhonda Lewis of Dalhart and Brenda Acker of Gruver; and eight grandchildren. The family will be at Chuck and June Sutterfield's residence in Stratford. Elsewhere Sylvia J. Smith PASADENA - Sylvia J. Smith, 91, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997. Private services and burial will be in Houston by Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in Erin, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam R. Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Jetton of Amarillo and Marjorie Root of Pasadena; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Canyon Eric Len Holbrook Eric Len Holbrook, 40, of Canyon, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church of Happy with the Rev. Lonny Poe, pastor, and Rick Bloodworth officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Holbrook was born in Erick, Okla. He is a former manager of Smith Cattle Feeders of Vega. He was the owner of Circle H Cattle. He coached Little League baseball and basketball for the Canyon Basketball Association. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Longhorn Breeders Association, the Happy Booster Club and the Band Booster Club. He attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. He married Dayna Venhaus in 1979 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Danielle Holbrook of the home; two sons, Christopher Holbrook and Nicholas Holbrook, both of the home; his mother, Barbara Holbrook Huff of Briscoe; a brother, Kevin Holbrook of Liberty; and a sister, Dawn Gae Donaldson of Allison. The family requests memorials be to the Eric Holbrook children's education fund care of the First State Bank of Happy. Lila McDonald Lila McDonald, 90, of Canyon, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Canyon officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. McDonald was born in Canyon. She and her husband owned and operated McDonald's Shop in Canyon for 50 years. She was a charter member of Pi Omega Sorority. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married James Alvin McDonald in 1929 at Canyon. He died in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Debra Davenport of Lubbock; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. Area Nancy Roxanne Wilhite DIMMITT - Nancy Roxanne Wilhite, 16, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Holy Family Church in Nazareth with the Rev. Jerry Stein, the Rev. David Kellar and Cecil Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Ms. Wilhite was born in Hereford. She lived in Clovis, N.M., before moving to Dimmitt in 1979. She was a junior at Nazareth High School where she played in the Swift Band. She was the honorary cheerleader manager. Survivors include her parents, Robert and Tammy Wilhite of Dimmitt; a brother, James Wilhite of Dimmitt; and her grandparents, Bob and Nadine Wilhite and Edd and Alta Hutto, all of Clovis. John Glover, associate pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Godwin was born in Perryville, Ark. She moved to Pampa in 1924 from Wheeler County. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Fred Godwin in 1923 at Miami. He died in 1986. Survivors include two daughters, Berdena Neef of Pampa and Marlene Dross of Hagerman, N.M.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Maude Warren Yungblut BORGER - Maude Warren Yungblut, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Youngblut was born in Greensbery, La. She moved to Borger in 1935 from Amite, La. She was a retired librarian for Frank Phillips College. She was a member of Hutchinson County Republican Women, and a past president of both the Borger 20th Century Federation Club and Friends of the Library. She was a past director of Cedar Canyon Methodist Church Camp. Mrs. Youngblut was a member of Texas Parent Teacher's Association, Girls 4H Leadership and a leader of the Plemons Cub Scout troop. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Youngblut in 1982. Survivors include a son, Gary Cline Youngblut of Abilene; a daughter, Rogenna Hanson of Paradise, Calif.; two brothers, Wilton Warren of Chalmette, La., and Alton Warren of Roseland, La.; a sister, Hazel Cutrer of Amite, La.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Crown of Texas Hospice or to the Gulf Museum. Nadeen Wrenn HAPPY - Nadeen Wrenn, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home, Inc. of Canyon. Ms. Wrenn was born in Myra. She was a first- and second-grade teacher at Highland Park Elementary school. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy. Survivors include two nieces and four nephews. Gertrude Robinson PAMPA - Gertrude Robinson, 87, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John Valdez, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. John Valdez. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Robinson was born in Rochester, N.Y. She moved to Pampa from Houston four years ago. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She married Lytle Robinson in 1934 at Olean, N.Y. He died in 1976. Survivors include two daughters, Rita M. Robinson and Frances O'Neal, both of Pampa; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Council for the Blind. Laura O. Jones CHILDRESS - Laura O. Jones, 92, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Fairview Church of Christ with Jeff Foster, minister, and Mike Suiter, minister of the Clarendon Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery at Hollis, Okla., by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mrs. Jones was born in Mountain View, Okla. She was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ. She married George M. Jones in 1924. He died in 1979. She is survived by her son, Billy B. Jones of Childress.
